Designed to reveal the landscape one view at a time. Weathering steel fins frame the Wenatchee Valley, while a compressed entry sequence creates a sense of arrival before opening to expansive mountain and river views.

Perched above the Wenatchee Valley, this custom home is designed around a series of framed experiences rather than a single panoramic view. Corten steel fin walls extend beyond the building envelope to shape sightlines, provide passive shade, and create moments of discovery throughout the home.

The arrival sequence compresses into a sheltered entry courtyard before opening to sweeping views of the Columbia and Wenatchee Rivers, the Stuart Range, and Mission Ridge beyond. Each fin carefully choreographs the relationship between architecture, landscape, and light—turning the home into a lens for experiencing Central Washington.

Washington State is moving toward a more formalized approach to wildfire resilience through updated WUI codes tied to the upcoming WA DNR Fire Hazard Map.

For us as architects, this shift directly shapes how we design in fire-prone regions — from Leavenworth and Chelan to the Methow Valley. Site planning, massing, and material decisions are increasingly driven by ignition resistance, defensible space, and radiant heat exposure, not just aesthetics.

We’re seeing a clear move toward fire-resilient design strategies: non-combustible exterior assemblies, Class A roofing, tempered glazing in vulnerable zones, reduced reliance on exposed wood, and more intentional integration of landscape as a protective buffer rather than just a visual layer.

In these landscapes, resilience is becoming a core design driver — embedded in how buildings meet the land, manage risk, and endure over time.

Good interiors aren’t just about finishes — they shape how daily life feels.

Our interior design services focus on creating spaces that are calm, functional, and deeply connected to the people who use them. From material palettes and lighting to cabinetry, furnishings, and built-ins, we approach interiors as an extension of the architecture itself.

A study in texture, weathering, and landscape.

For this small sauna project, corten steel siding was installed in angled vertical strips inspired by blades of grass — allowing the building to blur somewhere between object and landscape. What begins as a bright, reflective metal slowly patinas over time into a deep rust tone that settles naturally into the surrounding ponderosa pine landscape.

We're thrilled to be featured in this years edition of Methow Homes! 🏠

The article showcases how the design of the Vista Residence is a direct response to the Methow Valley’s natural forces - land, wind, sun, snow fire - as well as the artificial ones - light and sound.

If you're in the Valley, pick up a copy at participating local businesses!

Good design isn’t fixed — it evolves.

Every project starts with a framework, but the real work happens in the iteration: listening, adjusting, refining, and responding to how a client actually lives day to day.

The best spaces aren’t just designed for someone — they’re shaped with them. A design process that stays fluid allows the architecture to adapt to routines, habits, and the subtle details that make a house feel like home.

Always iterative. Always client-driven. Always personal.
