These allegations are not surprising. I’ve handled enough cases in the tech industry to have seen it all before. If you’ve been treated in this manner, and your HR department did not treat it seriously, talk to an employment attorney.
Amid employee uproar, Microsoft is investigating sexual harassment claims overlooked by HR “This thread has pulled the scab off a festering wound...A wide audience is now listening,” one Microsoft employee wrote in the emails reviewed by Quartz.
This has some salty language in it, but it is an interesting discussion of a wide-spread problem. Employers should engage in the interactive process and make some accommodation rather than paternalistically deciding what they think is best for their employees.

She should contact an employment attorney. You do not have First Amendment rights vis-a-vis your employer, but you do have the right to be treated equally. Sounds like her male counterpart got to keep his job for similar behavior.
