from The Dream Quartet

The stitching of the series reveals our nomad names.

It’s not too late to play the shortest day against the new hour of ice-moon. Hello.

The new book climbed the house with prognostications we could't claim.

The dream neurologists said I forgot I had forgotten you.

The spinal cord refusing.

Others would be looking, not for us, but for themselves

I can’t feel anymore, she said.

We're frozen to the empty skating pond.

He said, the muse tangled your hair through tree branches gone thin.

Away from sun.

Take heart, he said--

It's all temporary.

DIRGE: a ballet for 13 dancers, my first full-length book of poetry, is now available in hardcover! Thank you to Kurt Lovelace at Pierian Springs Press for this beautifully-crafted book, including its exquisite typesetting and design.

Please see the comments for links to purchase DIRGE from Pierian Springs Press and Amazon, 2 sample sections from my website, and for a free audio preview of the book, read by Miguel Escobar. The entire book read by Miguel Escobar is available for purchase on bandcamp.

A full audiobook of DIRGE, read by Miguel Escobar, is forthcoming as well as a paperback edition, but the hardcover with a beautiful dust jacket and thick spine is stunning, I have to humbly admit. Please contact me if interested in writing a full review.

Thank you to anyone who purchases DIRGE. I poured my soul into this book that took almost 2 years to write.

mission statement 01/16/2022

diaphanous micro: an e-journal of literary and visual art is OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS. Each issue of diaphanous micro features one writer and/or visual artist or collaboration of two or more poets, short fiction (under 750 words) writers, and visual artists.

Please read the mission statement, the submission guidelines (see first comment), and a few issues of diaphanous micro before submitting. This highly unique e-journal "leans toward the experimental" and embraces experimentation that directly engages the reader/viewer. When querying to [email protected], please include a sample of your writing/visual art.

I’m always on the lookout for micro fiction (under 50 words each) often in a sequence with an overarching title, hybrid and asemic writing, sculpture, architecture, abstract expressionistic works, poem videos/video poems, and text-based visual art.

The individual issues of diaphanous micro ideally alternate between male and female literary/visual artists. I'm always looking for female talent since I receive more male submissions than female--and for short fiction since I receive more poetry than short fiction submissions. All genres are open, however, and everyone should feel welcome to submit.

I look forward to reading your writing and viewing your visual art. Please share this post or link to diaphanouspress.com to individuals whose poetics/aesthetics is in line with the diaphanous micro mission statement.

Best wishes for 2022 to everyone,
