Time for a deep dive on my menacing Irish otter, also known as the Dobhar-chú!
1. The final result, which I cannot believe is real.
2. Me feeling in over my head because hi, I've basically never needlefelted before 😅
3. Once I saw the dimension I was able to build on his arms and
4. the little details like his eyes and teefs, I was getting over my fear of messing this up
5. The horror when I realized the underside looked like really patchy stubble
6. After brainstorming with about ways to tackle the underside, they suggested incorporating a fabric element and LOOK at how perfect this batik from my stash was?!?
7. Added more details like wave lines and so many lil and big rocks
8. Astin also had the brilliant idea to add skulls, because the dobhar-chú does indeed have a body count
9. To add more flair I added some tiny seaweed/water plants that have washed up on shore
10. Most importantly, THE F'N WINDOWS Sunny Fox Apothecary created!!! That somehow looks even better from the underside?! How!?

Let's do a deep dive on how I made my cactus cat! 💚
1. The final phase, with the incredible flower windows that put in
2. Initial chalk sketches for the eye shape
3. The first photo I actually took, after I had needle felted the nose and realized I forgot a 'before' photo
4. Needlefelting parts done, including the ears which took longer than everything else because I had to paint over them and make sure they held their shape
5. Layers and layers and layers of hand cut/painted petals
6. Deciding the positioning of the cactus flower and how to attach it
7. I found a pearl shank button that I cut the backing off of and placed in the center, plus started the hand beading of all the little cactus "spines" - I cannot emphasize how satisfying it is to touch that part of the hat 😅
8. Added some tiny little succulents and a sand motif to make almost like a desert diorama effect?
9. Added some fake onion grass pieces for the whiskers (maybe my favorite part?) and added tiny moss for the little kitty cheeks 😭
10. The underside needed some flair, so I patterned out a lining piece and installed this absolutely stunning batik fabric that I was gifted from someone's destash efforts, and I couldn't be happier with the home it's found!
