Aunty Kris here with a top tip to help you give the best life to your dog.
Today I want to tell you about a product we have used for years at the Ranch and right now, with this awful changeable weather we are having, now seems like a good time to share it with you.
Emu oil.
Yep, you read that right, Emu oil, from actual emus.
This super oil from the fat of the emu bird is absolutely fantastic for their coats; we have used emu oil shampoo for itchy skin for years, preferring it to oatmeal shampoo.
But we also keep a spray on hand too, as when skin gets itchy or inflamed, emu oil spray can really calm down flare-ups and ease the itching that dogs get so often this time of year from the damp heat out there.
As with just about everything we recommmed, you can buy it on Amazon and it doesn't have to be the most expensive brand. The Australian emu oils are super expensive but the ones made here in the US like Montana Ranch or Kenic 'Kalaya' emu oil spray are every bit as good and a fair bit cheaper.
If you have a dog with sweat rash, or a little contact dermatitis, you might want to give it a go.
We have found it to be easily accepted by the dogs, it doesn't stink to high heavens, and it's' anti inflammatory properties normally help way better instantly than some of the more expensive pharmaceutical creams and sprays.
