BARROW COUNTY LAUNCHES ‘COFFEE WITH THE COUNTY MANAGER’ TO FOSTER DIALOG, COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
In an effort to promote productive dialog and accessibility, Barrow County Manager Srikanth Yamala has announced the creation of the “Coffee With the County Manager” program.
The recurring event will allow for citizens to meet in a more intimate setting with their County Manager, offering a chance to ask questions, get clarification and learn about the goings-on of their local government.
“Providing residents with accurate, timely information is one of the most important responsibilities of local government. My hope is that this program will give citizens an opportunity to gain a better understanding of County operations and receive factual information directly from staff,” said Yamala.
The program will be held on a quarterly basis, with limited space at each gathering. Citizens interested in participating must fill out an online registration form. (See pinned comment for link!)
Participants will be contacted directly when offered a spot, and those not selected will automatically be put onto a waiting list for a future date. The program is intended for Barrow County residents only.

🚧 MT. MORIAH ROAD IMPROVEMENTS BEGIN JUNE 18 🚧
A TSPLOST-funded improvement project on Mt. Moriah Road will begin June 18 and include roadway reconstruction, widened shoulders, drainage upgrades, and new pavement markings.
Residents should expect temporary delays, pilot car escorts, and increased construction activity. Mailbox upgrades will begin the week of June 15. Property owners along this roadway will receive an information packet with important details about traffic access, control plans, mailbox replacement, and upcoming construction activities.
Due to the high amount of traffic that uses this road connecting Downtown Auburn and Hwy 124, work will be done 24/7 until the project is completed.
Thank you for your patience as we work to make Mt. Moriah Road safer and more reliable for our community.

BARROW COUNTY, AUBURN LAUNCH $2.9 MILLION MT. MORIAH ROAD PROJECT USING TSPLOST DOLLARS
The Barrow County Board of Commissioners and Auburn City Council have approved an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) for a full-depth reclamation project to improve safety and road quality along Mt. Moriah Road, which runs through portions of western Barrow County and the City of Auburn.
The contract was awarded to The Scruggs Company to improve approximately 2.95 miles of roadway from the Gwinnett County line to just north of 3rd Avenue in Auburn.
“This project represents a significant investment in our local infrastructure, as Mt. Moriah Road serves as a major connector from Hwy 29 and Downtown Auburn to Hwy 124. The partnership with Auburn helps ensure the roadway will remain safe and reliable for years to come,” said Barrow County Chairman Pat Graham.
The project will include full-depth reclamation of the existing roadway, the addition of one-foot shoulders on each side, grading, erosion control, storm drainage improvements, and road striping. Full-depth reclamation rebuilds the road from the ground up by recycling the existing asphalt and base into a new, stronger foundation for a longer-lasting roadway.
“Auburn is proud to partner with Barrow County on this important infrastructure project that will improve safety, connectivity, and the overall driving experience for our residents and visitors,” said Auburn Mayor Rick Roquemore.
“By working together and utilizing TSPLOST funding, we are making meaningful investments that support continued growth and enhance quality of life throughout our community.”
As part of the agreement, Barrow County will administer the project at a total cost of approximately $2.9 million, with the City of Auburn reimbursing the county $749,675 for work completed within the city limits.
The project is funded through Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) dollars, a one-cent sales tax approved by Barrow County voters to fund local transportation improvements.
