Unique projects with limited access require unconventional solutions, and this custom trailer is a prime example of our team's willingness and experience to overcome any challenge.
In the coming weeks, it will transport steel pieces weighing more than 26,000 lbs. down the C&O Towpath for the installation of a one-of-a-kind stair structure that thousands of visitors will use every day.
When the path forward isn't straightforward, our team finds a way.

Our team is working on another unique project—one that will be erected by our Local 5 Ironworkers inside an active train tunnel. Before these pieces go underground, we wanted to share a glimpse of the work taking shape.
The steel will be transported by our fleet, offloaded by our field team, moved along the rail tracks and erected overnight to keep operations moving safely and efficiently.
Once complete, this structure will support concrete, MEP systems and the thousands of people and valuable cargo that pass through the tunnel each day.
Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes updates.
One of the many sounds heard throughout our three shops is the hum of CNC equipment processing material.
From thin plate to 4-inch-thick steel, pipe, HSS, channels and wide fl**ge beams, ESI's equipment—operated by our trusted team—can produce thousands of pieces and process tons of material to meet project demands.
Behind every finished project is precision, efficiency and the people who make it happen.
Not every piece we fabricate looks the same, and not many look like this. But when our clients call, we get it done.
These plates are shims for a special project at an undisclosed location that most people will never see. Even so, the standard doesn't change. Every cut, every weld and every detail matters.
The work behind the scenes deserves the same level of craftsmanship as the projects everyone recognizes—and that's exactly what we deliver.

Not every project we fabricate and erect falls into the usual categories. This one was different. Working alongside Buch Construction and VarcoMac LLC, we had the rare opportunity to install new steel inside a new building rather than an existing one.
A welcome change of pace that reminded us why we love what we do. Sometimes the projects that fly under the radar are the most satisfying.

Extreme Steel Inc. is thrilled to see women trailblazing in welding.
“I always wanted to be the first female to do something.” Those are the words of Mikala Sposito, a Michigan community college student who recently won a national welding competition — earning the opportunity to potentially become the first woman to represent the United States in welding at the WorldSkills Competition in China, often called the Olympics of the skilled trades.
Stories like this shine a spotlight on the growing opportunities within the skilled trades and the importance of inspiring the next generation of welders, fabricators and builders.
At Extreme Steel, we’re proud to support workforce development initiatives that help strengthen the future of the construction and steel industries — and encourage more young people to pursue rewarding careers in the trades.
