Grateful to have Cory Kovanda from our church in the pulpit this Sunday. Cory has been the area Director of Young Life for the past nine years. Our church has quite a few people who have served on Young life staff, or who have been involved in this ministry in someway. We are grateful for this faithful ministry to teenagers in our city. Cape Fear Young Life we also had a pretty powerful experience, listening to Dr. Mehrmad Fatehi of کانون الهیات پارس share about what’s happening in Iran at the moment. What a profound reminder that we are part of the global church and not just the American Church. And finally, one more reminder that the funeral for our friend Torrence Dixon will be at noon on Friday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church

What a devastating loss! Please pray for our Eden Village friends as they grieve the loss of Torrence

Our Eden Village family is devastated to share that our dear Torrence passed away on this past Monday morning. Torrence was one of our first residents, and over the past three years he has not only made Eden Village his home, but he has made it a welcoming community for so many of our volunteers and other residents. Torrence was a special guy- he knew everyone and always knew what everyone was up to. Torrence dressed better than anyone we’d ever met and kept his home absolutely spotless. He had an eye for detail- no doubt. He was a proud member of local law enforcement, and it seemed like there wasn’t a person in Wilmington who didn’t know him. We are so sad that our friend has passed on. He will hold a special place in our community forever. We are so blessed to have known him and will cherish our memories with him always. ❤️

Details about his memorial service will be announced.

Sabbath…
Today and worship we were grateful to have a whole gaggle of kids lead us! As we begin the summer, one of the primary images we will use is that of a birdbath… which is a powerful image of the church!

What is God doing in Iran?

On Sunday the 14th at 1pm,
Nate will host a 1 hour (virtual) conversation with Dr. Mehrdad Fatehi to help us understand what is happening in Iran and the vital role of the underground church. Dr. Fatehi is an incredible resource who has been connected with our denomination, ECO, for many years. Make sure and put the 14th at 1pm on your calendar...

more info on Dr. Fatehi...

Dr. Fatehi was born in Iran and came to faith as a young man, eventually serving as a pastor and Bible teacher during the turbulent years following the 1979 Islamic Revolution. As pressure on Christians intensified, especially for those involved in leadership and theological training, he was forced into exile, leaving Iran in the late 1980s. Settling in the United Kingdom, Dr. Fatehi pursued formal theological education, completing advanced studies in New Testament while carrying with him a deep pastoral burden for the church he had left behind. Exile, for him, was not an escape from ministry but a re-location of it. From outside Iran, Dr. Fatehi discerned a calling to serve the growing underground church in Iran through deeply rooted theological formation. PARS Theological Centre was launched in 2010 to train pastors and church leaders inside Iran and throughout the global diaspora. Through distance learning, mentorship, and contextual theological education, PARS has become a lifeline for house church leaders in Iran and the Iranian diaspora who shepherd and serve under constant pressure

It was a special Sunday as we gave the opportunity for people to renew their faith and baptism after spending the past two days talking about Holy Spirit. Remembering our baptism as Jesus followers is such a powerful practice! We also celebrated our dear friend, Blake Mueses for nine years of faithful service on staff at our church! She loved well and is deeply loved!! Then in the afternoon the kids had a pool party and apparently a mahjong party broke out… here are a few pictures.

🙌🏽 🔥💨 ..
We hope to see you on this special Sunday as we bless our friend Blake for her ministry at this church. We also wanted to give people a chance to respond to the good news about the Holy Spirit by renewing their faith and baptism.
See you Sunday!
