The Untold Story of Florida’s Cow Hunters

One of the goals of our Florida Cracker Cowboy Project is to help preserve and share the history, culture, and traditions of Florida’s cow hunters and cattle families.

Projects like this are never accomplished alone. Along the way, we have received support, guidance, and assistance from many individuals who care deeply about preserving Florida’s ranching heritage.

Today, we are pleased to share one of the project’s featured works, a short film produced by Chris Moon and Donna Moon. Their film captures the people, landscapes, and traditions that continue to shape Florida’s cattle country and keep this unique heritage alive.

Whether you come from a ranching family, have an interest in Florida history, or simply want to learn more about one of the state’s oldest and most enduring cultures, we invite you to watch, enjoy, and share.

Preserving history means telling these stories before they are lost. We hope this film helps honor the generations of Florida cow hunters, cattlemen, and ranching families who helped shape our state.
