Back in the day when the Red Garter was in full swing as a bo****lo, these stairs were known as the "Cowboy Endurance Test". In fact, there was a murder on these stairs in the mid-1940's, which was the final straw for the local police. Ultimately, all the "houses of ill-repute" were shut down, including the Red Garter after more than 40 years of operation.
