Can I take a minute to tell you about our local High School competition BBQ team from Campus High School? Did you know that they laid the groundwork for Kansas high schools to offer a safe place to learn and explore cooking in an outdoor setting? Yep, the state director of high school competition bbq is right here in our metro area!

I am so impressed with these kids that are trying new things, learning skills they will be able to use throughout their lives and working as a team to achieve their goals.

Not everything went their way, but they were learning. Next time they will make adjustments and grow a little more. It was so exciting to watch these students from all over Kansas put their best efforts out there today!

If you know a kid that has an interest in cooking and/grilling PLEASE support them! I would love to see our area really step up and make this a possibility in the coming years. I would love it if EVERY high school provided this opportunity to their students!

I will continue to look for ways to help these kids fall in love with bbq. Thanks for indulging me on my little rant!

Congrats to all of the Kansas teams that competed today and just a little extra 🫶 for the Campus teams who were today's Grand Champions overall!!
