This 2014 f150 3.5 ecoboost was at another shop about 4 months ago. They did all new timing components on it. Chains, guides, tensioners, phasers and solenoids. Started running bad after a set of cheap plugs. The customer thought maybe that was it and wanted me to install new ones. I had told him he had timing codes for bank 2. He took the truck back to the shop that did the work. They had came to the conclusion that he needed an engine because a loss of compression in cylinder 4. So they priced out one. He contacted me back and I had said I wouldn’t do an engine without looking at it more. So it came back to my shop and this is what I had found. Guess what!!!
He don’t need a new engine.
Both intake and exhaust cams were unlocked on bank 2 because of bad phasers as you can see in the video. Watch where you take your vehicles. Even if they are a top name shop.

I know it’s been a long time and going to try and stay more updated on the page. I get so busy and it’s hard to do both sometimes but today I am doing a timing chain set and vvt phaser on this 11 traverse with a 3.6. Had codes P0008 P0301 P0303 and P0305 codes which all Indicate a timing Issue on the bank 1. As you can see the intake cam on bank 1 is not staying locked in position. Time to install some oem parts and get it running good again.

Working on this 15 fusion in the shop today. Customer complaint was there’s a loud noise coming from the engine. Had a shop diagnose it and told her it was the alternator. She brought it to me and this is what I found. Definitely not the alternator as you can see from the video.
