Looks like they are moving that old house from the large property that had the huge White House on it on Central between 127th and 143rd.

They tore the White House down there and are doing a neighborhood, is my understanding. Before they tore it down, they tried to sell the house itself for $2mm, but I guess no one wanted to spend a fortune to then be surrounded by an entire neighborhood.

I’m not sure the history of this smaller, old house - anyone know?

Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum maybe?

I’m a big music fan — though I tend to lean into the acoustic side of things (love me some banjo and mandolin).

However, there are times when the soul needs a bit of crying electric guitar — and surprisingly, we can thank Wichita for giving it to us!

That’s right. Wichita is actually where the electric guitar first plugged into American culture.

Check out the comment below to learn more about how Wichita’s Gage Brewer brought the first electric guitar out of the lab and into the spotlight on Halloween night in 1932 — kicking off a revolution in music that would eventually reshape genres from blues to rock ’n’ roll.

Thank you to the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum for the pictures, their recent exhibit, and aggregating a lot of information about this story!

Looks like there is a firedrill going on at Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport - source for photo in comments.

I didn’t see it mentioned on the news anywhere, but that might be why there is smoke out west if you see it.

The popular Wichita By E.B. Is looking for feedback on a sponsored happy hour:

“Something l've always wanted to do is a little cash mob to support a locally owned restaurant. For over a decade, the city and community have invested in me and I always want to pay it forward and invest in the community. After talking to readers online and friends, it's time to mark your calendars for Monday, January 26, from 4pm to 6:30 p.m. at The James & Rye in downtown Wichita.”
