The Sweet Emergency Fund, founded by Dr. Donna Sweet, is a safety net for HIV/AIDS patients to ensure they can afford medical care and expenses living with HIV/AIDS Today, if a person is diagnosed early and diligent with taking their medicines, they may live a relatively healthy life ... at a significant financial cost. There is still so much work to be done 

HIV care doesn't happen in a vacuum. New data from the Emergency HIV Clinical Response Task Force makes that undeniably clear.

Housing instability, food insecurity, loss of employment, and loss of insurance are now among the top barriers patients report to staying in HIV care. These aren't peripheral concerns. They're driving people out of treatment.

Congratulations to MSSC member Donna Sweet, MD, on being honored for her decades of service on behalf of laboratory excellence during the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation Conference in Nashville in May. Dr. Sweet, an HIV/AIDS specialist with KU School of Medicine-Wichita, is a longtime board member of COLA.
