Students from our EMT, Nursing, and Criminal Justice/Police Science programs at WSU Tech participated in the Field Operations Day on April 3rd, 2026. Students were able to showcase their skills while working through several well-planned scenarios. Each scenario they worked showed the collaboration between Law Enforcement, EMS, Fire, and Nursing.

It was a great day for the students in the criminal justice program at WSU Tech. Students from the college along with several students from our high school partners at South, Eisenhower, and Goddard all competed at the Skills USA Kansas State Championship in Hutchinson, bringing home some hardware in the process. I couldn’t be more proud of these students and the dedication they have shown preparing for this competition. Several of these students have even been spending extra time at the college outside their regular set classroom time practicing for this event. I would like to thank our instructors at South, Eisenhower, and Goddard for all their hard work in helping these students get ready for the events. I would also like to thank the Wichita Police Department for all their hard work in setting up the competition.

Currently looking for placement for three students in my internship course. Our program at WSU Tech is growing rapidly and with that growth we have had an increase in the number of students looking for criminal justice internships. I have been able to place nine students but still have the three looking for placement. If you are part of my network or even outside my network in the Wichita area and would be willing to give one of these students an opportunity to see what you department or organization has to offer don’t hesitate to contact me. This would be a once a week for 12 weeks commitment. My email is [email protected].

Foster is a dual credit student in our Criminal Justice program at WSU Tech. Glad to see he is excelling in both the classroom and on the football field.

Foster evolving in Panther offense Senior Rowan Foster has brought a new level of confidence this fall and has been a reliable receiver for the Panthers. The four-year varsity wide receiver has seen the offense

Also a big shout out to the Sedgwick County Sheriffs Department for all the work they did with Eisenhower’s CSI team.

Every year we host a SkillsUSA regional competition for our dual-credit students who compete under the WSU Tech banner. We had an awesome group of students this year. The top fifteen will now represent WSU Tech and their high schools at the SkillsUSA State competition in April. Special thanks to WPD and the Citizen’s Police Academy for making the competition happen.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends, family, and colleagues of Detective Blurton of the Wichita Police Department. Detective Blurton had been a member of the Wichita Police Department for many years. In that time, he truly gained the honor and respect of all that worked with him. Detective Blurton will be greatly missed.

Some of our Dual-Credit students from Eisenhower High School got to take a tour of WSU Tech South today. The group then traveled over to Wichita State Unversity to learn about their Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, and Pre-law programs. They finished out their day with a tour of the Wichita/ Sedgwick County training academy. Thank you to Wichita State University and to the Training Academy for the opportunity for these students to see the next steps in their journey to becoming Criminal Justice Professionals.
