It’s here, it’s here! The digital edition of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Spring 2026 edition of the AURORA has been released!
The theme of this edition is; “She Lead, She Inspires, She Empowers: Highlighting women making an impact across all levels of our organization and community."
This issue is filled with powerful stories, distinguished leadership, and moments that reflect the strength and brilliance of our sisterhood. This edition includes a feature article highlighting Sigma's historic presence, as coordinated by our International Social Action Committee, which I chair, at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation 54th Annual Legislative Conference held in Washington, D.C. last fall! 💙💛
We made history with hundreds of Sorors and Philos converging on the nation's capital for what attendees described as a transformative experience in legislative advocacy and social action. The conference's powerful theme, "Made for this Moment: Power, Policy, and Progress," resonated deeply with the sorority's A.C.T.I.V.A.T.E. (ADVOCATE – COLLABORATE – TRAIN – INFLUENCE – VOICE – ACT – TRANSFORM – EMPOWER) Campaign, affirming that Sigma women are uniquely positioned to leverage their collective power, shape policy, and drive progress in communities nationwide!

Communication - Partnership - Collaboration - Progress
These are 4 very meaningful and powerful action verbs that create the pathway that will make or break the opportunity to bring forth community change that is truly impactful and transformative.
This week my Greater Wichita Partnership colleagues Tami Bradley, Ricki Ellison and I facilitated a National League of Cities in-person site visit to Wichita, Kansas as a part of my U.S. Economic Development Administration/International Economic Development Council's Economic Recovery Corps project! Having traveled from Washington, D.C., it was truly a pleasure welcoming Tomeka Lee, MPH and Samantha Pedroza to their first visit to The Air Capital!
Time was well spent introducing NLC colleagues to the community and organizational leaders on our pathway who are advancing THE WORK that strengthens this community! Thank you to our electeds, Lily Wu, Councilwoman Becky Tuttle, and Councilman Joseph Shepard, MPA, for joining us! Thank you to the leadership of Child Start, Goodwill Industries of Kansas, Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO), Kansas Health Foundation, City of Wichita- Government, OneCommunity, City of Derby, Workforce Centers of South Central Kansas, WCCAP Child Care Subgroup, and Downtown Wichita for your presence, invitations, engagement, and highlights of your work in our region!
