A Playful Look.

In a life of peaks and valleys steep,
We laugh, we cry, we wake, we sleep.
Sometimes screaming loud, sometimes a silly face,
Sometimes finding our steps, slowing finding our place.

In our wild moments though, we might lose control,
Searching for fun, peace, happiness, any feeling in our soul. Among the chaos created, strong storms can cut like a knife, But we learn to mend, we learn from life.

Let’s take the time to heal our scars,
To ground ourselves beneath the stars.
To love with all our hearts and then,
To let go, free, and breathe again.

For when we fall, a chance to rise,
To seek the truth beyond the skies.
In love, in loss, in all we learn to know,
Create the space to feel every high and low.

So give a playful look if you dare
Feel wonderful and free without a care
And do all the weird things that make us true
To who we are through and through.

Here's a late night poem for you called
"One second at a time."

Cause sometimes that's all you can bear.

"In the tapestry of time, each year unfolds,
Lines etched on my face, stories yet told.
Deeper they delve, a map of my years,
Each wrinkle whispers, "time to conquer your fears".

More lines appear, like verses in rhyme,
A narrative written in the sands of time.
Yet, the message is clear, in a voice so low,
"Not every day will be an effortless flow."

For life is a journey, not at all a cake walk,
Challenges arise, in every step, they talk.
There'll be moments when surrender tempts near,
But within, a resilience that knows no fear.

One day at a time, the mantra I hold,
Through valleys and peaks, I still remain bold.
In the face of struggle, a steadfast vow,
To take life's hurdles, one moment now.

And when seconds stretch, like a delicate thread,
We learn that time's dance is a tapestry spread.
For in every heartbeat, a rhythm sublime,
Taking things slowly, one second at a time."

😘 Keep smiling, my friends. You are loved.

"Each day, our minds generate about 85,000 thoughts. A staggering 50,000 of these are self-talk, and 80% of this self-talk is negative. That’s about 40,000 negative thoughts each day!"

Goodness...... I don't know about you, but starting RIGHT MEOW.... I'm going to do my very best to stop myself when those negative thoughts creep in. That's just too damn many!

Not sure what my inner critic or my inner coaches name is quite yet but dang friends this article was a good read for me.

Maybe you'll enjoy it too.

Taming the Inner Critic: Understanding and Overcoming Self-Criticism - GoodTherapy.org Therapy Blog Did you know that every person has an inner voice that constantly chats away inside their head? Prisons embody stark emptiness. They are dismal environments for those confined within.

The financial burden on Sedgwick County taxpayers amounts to approximately 43 million dollars annually for housing of humans in this jail.

It’s pretty much the most expensive place to sleep in town. It’s far from the Ritz, yet is has frequent flyers and the taxpayers are fitting the bill.

Regardless of the reasons for incarceration, and recognizing the voices advocating for punitive measures, there still exists an opportunity for a more humane approach to incarceration.

Many won’t understand the purpose. Many will discredit this work, meanwhile and disturbingly, recidivism rates are through the roof.

Such a high rate underscores a systemic issue demanding attention. It demands a different approach. About a 1000 different approaches. This is simply one.

Prisons can be a place to START the rehabilitation and healing process so people don’t return.

Color helps with that.

Shout out to Brick Mob, Chris Garcia, Dale Small, Christian Ministries of Offenders, Captain Paula Smith and everyone who helped make this happen, I’m so thankful to see this on the wall and I’m hopeful it won’t be the last change at the Sedgwick County Detention Facility.

Maybe next they can fence in the north lawn and build a garden. Teach inmates to grow things. Sell to local vendors.

Just a thought. :)
