Found this video hiding in my drafts from 2024 and knew I had to share it.

If you’re learning to make cheddar, this is a great visual example of pressing errors. You can see the cracks along the edges, individual curds that didn’t fully knit together, and mechanical holes inside the wheel.

Not every cheese turns out perfect, but every wheel teaches you something. 🧀

Full step-by-step tutorial for making homemade cheddar cheese is on my blog. I’ve put it in the comments!

Cheesemaking is easy, I promise.

It’s just milk, cultures, rennet, salt, and a little patience.

I started sharing cheesemaking because I realized so many people wanted to learn, but felt intimidated by it. So I put everything I know on my website for free.

No class. No membership. No course. No gate keeping.

I share beginner-friendly recipes, step-by-step instructions, troubleshooting tips, and the encouragement to try something new.

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to make your own cheese, search “Ninnescah Made cheese” and start with whichever recipe sounds fun. If grandma could do it, so can you.

Come learn with me 🫶🏻

Spoiler- it was really good! Sharp cheddar flavor, a bit of tart cranberry and spiciness. The coolest thing about this wheel was that it developed those crunchy little crystals when you bite it it than only happens with long aged cheeses! Pretty neat! I’ll put the recipe for how to make homemade cheddar in the comments.

We don’t want’em.

Cheesemaking doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. These are the basic cheesemaking supplies I use at home, and you can start with less than you think.

I put together a full blog post breaking down:

• what’s worth buying
• what I’d skip as a beginner
• the supplies I use over and over
• and what you definitely do NOT need right away

I dropped it in the comments 🧀
