During the summer months, Susan and I are dyeing wool to either spin for mini skeins or to blend into mini batts on our drum carder or hackle. Today, we tried to work outside of our comfort zone by dyeing up some colors that we wouldn’t normally choose.

We will be getting some better pictures soon but these are some of the items we are working on. 1oz batts, mini skeins (30g), washcloths for dishes, exfoliating washcloths for your face, scrubbies, earrings and more. As of now, we are working on inventory and packaging.

Working on some tags. We are grassroots and old school but that is what makes us special. Just like every cup of coffee and every skein of yarn is unique, so will our tags and products be.
Cafe Wool began during the height of the Covid Pandemic. In the summer of 2020, my friend Susan Caywood and I, Kim Chase, began getting together every Friday for what we call, “Fiber Fridays!” Our goal at the time was to learn as much as possible about dyeing fiber and yarn, spinning, weaving, knit and crochet.
I have been knitting for 28 years, weaving for 9 and spinning for 8.
In 2017, Susan moved to her farm where she got Baby Doll sheep and Dwarf Nigerian goats among other animals. She processes her own wool. She is a crochet artist that has been crocheting for 20+ years.
The question we get asked most often is, Do you sell your items? We decided to give it a try. Come along our journey with us.
