Well look what has shown up in the shop. Looks like a little salts is in Big Al’s future. The Auto Shop crew is getting back together and looking to bring a few land speed records back from the great white dyno at the Bonneville salt flats. The car is literally a piece of racing history. This 34 Ford has been a race car in one fashion or another since the 1950s. This car has competed in both drag raced and Land speed. Al is hard at work on the engine to make it better. There are a few safety updates to comply with the SCTA rules. Al Weiss and his Auto Shop team have fielded many competitive cars over the years. Al loves a challenge and this one certainly will be one. Stan and Mat Thomas will once again be on board to push the engineering limits. Greg Hogue will be accomplishing his specialty of accusation of unique parts and technology. Bob Johnson the car owner has loved cars with 6 cylinder engines and this car comes from his collections. Bob and Mat will be sharing the driving duties. The engine class is very unique under the Vintage category XXO which is a GMC 302 from the 1950s. The car class is a modified gas roadster. So In Bonneville speak. XXO GMR. The current record is 185 mph. Hopefully Looking for records in the 200 mph range in August at SCTA Speed Week. .
