We had a full day today visiting churches in Alabama. We had lunch with a member of the mission committee at Mayfair Church of Christ in Huntsville. We later met with the whole committee. Afterwards we had a meeting at Madison Church of Christ before driving back to Florence.

We (Rodney Carter, Jim & Lisa Lucas) were so encouraged by the brethren at Tanglewood Church of Christ (Odessa TX) this past weekend. Bro. Rodney works with this church as the HM missionary-evangelist following the HM Launch Workshop back in early 2025. Our intent was to visit, bring material and discuss the work and encourage, but we were the ones encouraged by these steadfast brethren. Saturday they had their periodic clothing giveaway at their building, which started this year as an outreach effort. God is blessing their efforts. One family came back Sunday, and numerous other positive conversations were had and connections made.
This congregation also now does “Saturday for the Savior” (remember Monday for the Master?😊) on most Saturdays. Some of us went visiting previous contacts Saturday afternoon. Small in number but big in heart, these brethren are striving to be who God has called them to be.
Sunday after worship and a fellowship meal, we discussed their current endeavors and goals, and next steps for HomeMission in our ongoing support of them. We are already looking forward to our next visit! Please pray for the Tanglewood church of Christ. —JL

We visited two churches near Florence Alabama yesterday, Cox Boulevard Church of Christ and Killen Church of Christ, both HM supporters. Killen has a unique system for attendance and visitors, a small clipboard on each row shown below. Today John will visit Heritage Christian University and we meet with the Killen elders tonight.

The Orrs are on a 12 day trek to Alabama. We will be visiting several churches on the two Sundays and during the week along with a visit to Heritage Christian University in Florence. Lord willing , we will end up on Father’s Day in the Jasper, AL area before heading back to Texas. Prayer for safe travel are appreciated.

What a week! Sunday morning with class and sermon as we began a LAUNCH Workshop with the brethren at NYA Church of Christ (New York Ave)…an awesome fellowship meal for lunch then the interactive H.A.N.G.E.R. Session. Sessions were held nightly through Weds night, culminating in goals identified and members signing up for various work teams. I’m excited to see what God will do through these good brethren. It was a joy for Lisa and I to meet and spend time with some wonderful, passionate brothers and sisters that have not allowed Satan to quench their passion for the church and the lost.

If God wills, tomorrow we head to Odessa with Rodney O. Carter to work alongside our brethren with the Tanglewood Church of Christ this weekend.

We visited Poolville Church of Christ Sunday. John presented HomeMission and preached. What a friendly, close-knit congregation! We also got to visit with old friends, Jimmy and Sandy McCoy, we knew from Faith Village Church of Christ, who now attend there.

Our secretary, Fara, compiled this list of where our HM Evangelists will be, Lord willing, this weekend! Eight evangelists will be at 7 churches in 4 states! Safe travels all!

After our grandson’s graduation last Saturday we visited Commerce Church of Christ and John presented HomeMission during Bible class. We really enjoyed our visit. This is a close knit group in a college town and they made us feel very welcome. We’re booked up on weekends visiting churches through most of June.
