Teakwood gentleman’s valet.

I hadn’t planned on making any more gentlemen’s valets, but someone in Oklahoma had been requesting one. He said he would be in my Texas town today. I thought he really wanted one. So, I bought the teakwood and milled out 4 units with a sliding lid and hand turned the k***s, sanded and finished all. After all of that, he didn’t show up. I am a little annoyed, but that’s ok, I will sell them at the farmers market. Maybe I’ll keep one for myself. 

Come on down to the Wichita Falls downtown farmers market on eighth and Ohio. Lots of vendors lots of neat stuff. 

I am really liking this design. It’s a lot of fun shaping these pipes. I used maple black walnut and purple heart.

This was a fun experiment. I used maple, black walnut and Purple Heart woods. Total length is 10”. Fitted with a glass bowl insert. My favorite part of the process is the shaping and getting the contours just right.

Here’s a little memento of my previous profession. I carved it out of wax and cast in a chrome cobalt dental alloy. Who can tell me which tooth this represents?

I couldn’t find my letter opener, so I made one of oak.

This flight was a fun project. It’s amazing how much time it takes to design, glue, measure twice, and do a bunch of sanding. It’s a good thing I like woodworking.
