“There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be...” - John Lennon

Black bears are found primarily in and among the forested areas of the lower bay, including Bartlett Cove (where this picture was taken). Bears thrive in a variety of habitats, and their strategy for survival is to constantly explore their surroundings for new food sources. You can even find them on the islands in the bay. Bears are excellent swimmers and will swim out to an island.

What's the owl's favorite subject in school? Owlgebra!

To many, owls are a symbol of knowledge and wisdom — likely for their stunningly large eyes and stoic appearance and their success as nighttime hunters. Great horned owls have large eyes and pupils that open widely in the dark and contain many rod cells for night vision. Their unique ears and facial feathers also allow the owl to pinpoint their prey using sound alone, making them excellent hunters!

Wishing a happy, safe, and successful school year to owl the students, teachers, and parents out there!
