Hey everyone—

We’re working on creating a directory of former players for our new website, www.wheatonmastodon.com and we need our alumni to help with this. If you are a former player, we’d like to know your:
-Name
-Hometown
-Years active on Mastodon
-Position (if you were a cutter and a handler, specify which years you played at which position)
-Jersey number
-Number of tournaments you played in, if possible. Tournaments where you played alongside alumni or other non-typical teams should not be counted—but fall season unsanctioned tournaments can be counted

ALSO: If you have access to any photo albums from years past, or even just team photos, we’d gladly take them for team archives. We don’t have much recorded from pre-pandemic years, and it’d be great to recover some of that before it gets lost for good!

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
Ben Adamson | #️⃣9️⃣ | Freshman | Cutter

Over the course of the season, Ben made significant strides as a player—many of his teammates saw him more as a veteran than a rookie by the end of the year. He was called upon to do a number of different things during games, including playing at nearly every offensive and defensive position, and more often than not delivered at a level above the captains’ expectations.

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER
Henry Gruett | #️⃣3️⃣4️⃣ | Sophomore | Handler

This year, Henry stepped up as a full-time starter on D-line from what had largely been a bench role in 2022. He played in every game this season and led all D-line handlers in points played.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Ben Barbeau | #️⃣2️⃣0️⃣ | Junior | Handler

Ben was the engine of Mastodon’s D-line this year, setting the tone with high-tempo play and alert defense. He led all handlers in completion percentage and led many of the team’s break drives.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Charlie Leys | #️⃣1️⃣8️⃣ | Sophomore | Handler

Charlie was a major impact player on Mastodon’s O-line this season, providing consistent play during some of the team’s biggest moments. He had the highest efficiency rating for all offensive players this season.

PHOTO OF THE YEAR

Ari volunteered as a photographer for several tournaments this year. She is also on the women’s ultimate team, and will be one of their captains starting next fall!

Isaiah (pictured) made a habit of ending opponents’ careers this season, sometimes even sending players into tirades of curses due to his impressive play. Here he is shown skying a Hillsdale player so badly, it’s reported his family disowned him after the game.

REPEAT CHAMPS🏆🏆
Rain, hail, lightning, and thunder couldn't hold back Mastodon yesterday as they took down Bradley, Knox, and North Park to defend their conference title.
