September 11, 2001.

It started as such a normal day. I came home from school, my mom was preparing dinner, my dad was watching TV after work, and I was getting ready to take our dog for a walk.

Then suddenly I heard my dad calling from the living room: “Two planes just hit the Twin Towers!”

I walked in and froze.

Every TV channel was showing the same thing. We stood there watching, unable to believe what we were seeing. We watched the towers burning, and then we watched them fall. Two towers were gone.

Just a normal day - until it wasn’t.

So many people lost their lives that day. So many people lost someone they loved. Families were changed forever. The world changed forever.

But there is something else that has always stayed with me about September 11 - how people came together. In the middle of so much fear, pain, and tragedy, there was also incredible courage, compassion, and unity. People helped complete strangers. First responders ran toward danger while others were trying to escape. People stood together, supported one another, and for a moment, so many of the things that normally divide us simply didn’t seem to matter.

A few years later, I read One Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury and its sequel. They are fictional stories, but they were inspired by the tragedy of September 11. Reading those books brought tears to my eyes and made me feel the tragedy on a much deeper level.

More than 25 years later, I can still remember that ordinary afternoon at home - my mom making dinner, my dad watching TV, me about to walk the dog - and the moment everything changed.

Some days stay with you forever. Some days remind us what really matters.

September 11, 2001. We will never forget. 🇺🇸🕊️

Ms. Paris - THE master of stealing food - was caught red-handed by her family while trying to steal some food 😂 Of course, they had to take a picture and then used AI to add the chef’s hat and apron. 👩‍🍳😂

Her face says it all: “Yep… you caught me.” 🤣
