Meet Dan Gordon, Multimedia Content Producer here at Cillessen Construction.
Dan is the person behind the camera bringing our projects to life. From photography and videography to drone footage, graphic design, podcasts, and social media content, his role is to tell the story behind the craftsmanship that goes into every home we build, renovate, and restore.
When he’s not creating content, you’ll usually find him training for ultramarathons and Ironman races, exploring Colorado with his dog Roscoe, or volunteering with the Denver Animal Shelter.
Day 16 - When picking your countertop details don’t forget to think about the edge detail, waterfall edges, backsplash or maybe even backlighting.
A simple upgrade that can make a big difference in how you enjoy your outdoor space: pre-running irrigation lines for planters and flower pots.
Many homeowners invest in beautiful seasonal planters, only to find that keeping them watered consistently becomes a challenge as the summer gets busy. Planning for irrigation during construction helps protect that investment and keeps your landscaping looking its best with less maintenance.
Small decisions made during the planning stage often have the biggest impact on long-term enjoyment.
Make sure you’re covered and have some extra room in your budget… that your contractor doesn’t know about. You may want to spend more on upgrades or additional work and make sure you are prepared! If it is a 200k project have 10-20k extra, if it’s a 750k project have anywhere from 30-75k.
A towel bar ripping out of the wall is usually preventable.
Before drywall goes up, ask your contractor to install backing behind towel bars, toilet paper holders, artwork and other wall-mounted accessories. It's a simple step that can make a big difference in the long-term durability of your home.
Day 14 of our June renovation tips series. Stay tuned for more.
Landscape lighting is one of the most overlooked features in an outdoor living project, but it can completely change how a space feels after sunset.
While string lights might seem like an easy solution, there’s a reason thoughtfully designed landscape lighting remains a long-term favorite. It enhances ambiance, improves usability, and helps highlight the architectural and landscape details that make a space unique.
And yes, we've learned the hard way that hanging string lights for hours only to discover one bulb works is not an ideal installation strategy.

Day 13 - Renovation Tips. Busy weekend for our family, kindergarten graduation party, neighborhood party and just watched the Knicks win the championship.
But I wanted to get this tip out, it’s a big one. The paint colors you pick for your home can completely change the feeling of the space. You also don’t want to paint twice… because you picked the wrong color… We hope this tip helps!
P.S. Congrats to the Knicks and the Knicks fans, Nuggets are coming for it next year!
Before you renovate, try this simple exercise.
Walk through your home like you're coming home from work. You've got your bag, your keys, maybe the kids are with you carrying backpacks.
Where does everything go?
Thinking through your daily routine before finalizing a design can reveal storage needs, drop zones, built-ins, and other features that make your home more functional long after the renovation is complete.
A great renovation isn't just about how a space looks. It's about how it works for the people living in it. 🏡
