Smooth and Slow Songs! 🐢🐌
Songs like this Summer's "Sailing Song" - with a slow tempo and legato phrases - are execellent for helping children coordinate music and movement relationships! Slow and smooth songs help support children's development of both the receptive (taking information into the nervous system) and expressive (sending information out from the nervous system) systems.

Is your child almost ready to start lessons on an instrument? Not sure which instrument? Not sure where to find a good teacher in your area? 🤯
Many of you may not know that in addition to Petite Musician, Mark & Leah also run a non-profit Summer music institute in the mountains, the Colorado Suzuki Institute. As part of that institute, we're offering a local Suzuki Starters event for families that are interested in learning more about private lessons for their child! Just in time for Fall activities to start ramping up, we'd love to have you join us!
Deadline to register is Thursday, August 6th.

🎵 Fast... slow... fast again! 🚂🐢
When children explore different tempos in music, they're doing so much more than having fun.
Playing fast and then slowing down helps develop:
✨ Listening skills and focus
✨ Self-control and impulse regulation
✨ Coordination and body awareness
✨ Musical expression and creativity
✨ An understanding that music can tell a story and create different feelings
One of our favorite songs this summer, "See the Pony Galloping," is a wonderful way to experience tempo changes. Children love pretending to gallop quickly like an excited pony, then slowing down as the pony settles into a gentle walk. These playful changes in speed encourage careful listening, movement, and musical expression—all while having a great time!
At Petite Musician, we love giving little ones opportunities to experience the joy of learning through play!
💛 Does your little musician prefer galloping fast or slowing things down?

Believe it or not, YOU are your child's first - and most important - music teacher!
Your home's musical environment doesn't need expensive instruments - it needs YOUR participation! Singing while folding laundry, humming during diaper changes, dancing while cooking. When music is part of daily life, children absorb it naturally! 🎵

Create peaceful moments with gentle lullabies and quiet songs. Music doesn't always have to be energetic - soft singing, gentle swaying, and quiet humming can be just as magical. These tender musical moments build deep bonds and beautiful memories and are an important tool to help to regulate your little one's (and your) nervous system. 🌸
