Summer Driving in Colorado 06/25/2026

Summer in Colorado means more road trips, more time outdoors, and more vehicles on the road. β˜€οΈπŸš—

That's why the Colorado Department of Transportation, in partnership with the Colorado State Patrol, the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, and the Colorado Motor Carriers Association, launched the new Drive Safe Colorado Summer campaign.

This year, staying safe on the road is more important than ever. With ongoing drought conditions across Colorado, simple actions like checking your vehicle before a trip, securing trailer chains and cargo, properly disposing of cigarette butts, and planning ahead can help prevent crashes and reduce wildfire risk.

Before you hit the road:
βœ… Check your vehicle and tire pressure
βœ… Secure all loads, trailers, and equipment
βœ… Plan your route and check road conditions
βœ… Buckle up and drive distraction-free
βœ… Never throw cigarette butts from your vehicle

Learn more and access summer driving safety resources at: https://www.codot.gov/travel/summerdriving

Let's all do our part to keep Colorado's roads and communities safe this summer.

The goats have officially arrived at Lewis Meadows! 🐐🌿

Thank you to everyone who joined us last weekend for this year's Goat Parade and helped send our hardworking herd off to their summer grazing grounds. It was wonderful to see so many families, neighbors, and community members lining the route to cheer them on.

Each summer, these goats help naturally manage vegetation at Lewis Meadows, reducing fire risk while supporting a healthy ecosystem, all without the need for heavy equipment or chemicals.

Thanks for making this beloved Wheat Ridge tradition another great success. We can't wait to do it again next year!
