Hawk Helpers Weekend Backpack Program

Happening Saturday!

Today we want to highlight the volunteerism of the crew from the Wethersfield Transition Academy! These students have shown up every week all year, along with their teachers, to help clean bags, unload deliveries, and stock shelves. James and Carson show up smiling and ready to work and we couldn’t be more grateful for their efforts. We hope you enjoy a great summer break!

Happy Anniversary to Hawk Helpers! 2 years ago we started our program in one small room, with a small group of volunteers, delivering one bag of food to 9 families. Today we take up 3 rooms and have 32 families who get 2-5 bags of food every week. We have a big group of volunteers without whom none of this could happen. Thank you and here’s to another year!!

Gratitude post!! The CORPUS CHRISTI COMMUNITY really came through for Hawk Helpers with their soup drive. Thank you so much for your generosity in helping your neighbors!

We seriously couldn’t love our community support more! THANK YOU to the members of Trinity Parish for contributing all these toiletries for our families.

And, thank you to a group of local women (who prefer to remain anonymous) for putting together these amazing gift bags for our families to provide a little holiday treat.

A community can only be made great by the effort we put into it and you all do it right!!

Today we sent home all the ingredients for Thanksgiving dinner to our families along with their regular week’s food. Thank you to SHOP RITE of East Hartford for donating our turkeys, to CW TEACHERS for donating pies, and to all our VOLUNTEER packers and drivers, including students from WHS, without whom none of this could happen. Wishing everyone a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

While SNAP benefits are suspended Hawk Helpers is providing extra food to our families. We have gotten calls, emails and texts asking what we need and how people can help. Community at its best - THANK YOU!!
