Haircut day with Marcie!

Many families often express frustration surrounding haircuts, and children can struggle with the process. We are so lucky to be able to offer haircuts here at the clinic by Marcie Petrucci, COTA/L and professional hair dresser! Our therapists work with the clients prior to their haircut, focusing on the haircutting process in preparation for their appointment. This includes creating a personalized social story for each child that describes the steps of a haircut, practice and exposure to some of the tools that will be used including the capes and a brush, and finding a motivator or incentive to help throughout the process. We even have our OTs assist with the haircuts to make sure that each child is comfortable and can have a successful haircutting experience!
