Wethersfield Hunger Action Team
Mission: Develop and implement local solutions to empower our neighbors to be food secure.
Thank you to everyone who has taken steps through the years to make sure that all our neighbors have access to good food!
Initiated by CT’s Food Share a number of years ago, the Hunger Action Team remained an all-volunteer group even after Food Share was no longer involved. Unfortunately, the Hunger Action Team is no longer in operation, at least for the foreseeable future.
We know that food insecurity continues to be a daily concern for many of our neighbors and we urge you to continue encouraging donations through your organizations and friends whenever possible. Thank you all for caring about our community!
Apologies for these late mentions of participants in the Dazzling Dozen program....
Many thanks to Trinity Church for their food drive to support the Wethersfield Food Bank in March and to United Methodist Church for their participation this month. We also want to thank Deidre Castoro for her work to organize an Easter Egg hunt earlier this month, with all proceeds going to the food bank. With over 800 guests, 260 of whom were under the age of 10, $2,000 was raised to support our neighbors in need!
If you or anyone you know would be interested in participating in the Dazzling Dozen program, please reach here on this page for more details and we'll be happy to get you started!!! We're all about neighbors helping neighbors!

Community stretches beyond town borders. Please check out this great new business that shares our values!
We are so grateful to be able to offer Connecticut's very FIRST
🔹Pay-What-You-Can🔹Restaurant, Gather55, creating a "place at the table" for everyone in our community to dine and gather together, regardless of ability to pay.
We ask that if you share in our hopes and dreams of this powerful mission, we invite you to please support our Hartford neighbors by donating 55 for Gather55.
That is $5.50, $55, $550...whatever you can do, we would be ever-grateful. The reality is, we need both paying diners and donors for this innovative initiative to thrive! $55 will provide 9 individuals with a hearty breakfast or 6 of our guests with a nutritious lunch.
Thank you for helping us break down barriers and build opportunities for authentic community connection. We welcome everyone to enjoy a delicious culinary experience at Gather55.
Thank you SO MUCH for your support!

Good news to share!
The Wethersfield Farmers' Market received a grant from Farm Credit East (www.farmcrediteast.com) in recognition of the Market being an important channel for agricultural producers in the Northeast to sell their products and directly connect with consumers.
Farmers' Market Director, Douglas Sacks says the money will be directed toward expanding the offerings the Wethersfield Farmers' Market makes to SNAP/EBT recipients whose diets are often lacking in needed nutrients and vitamins that fresh, local produce supplies.

In an email today from Anne Tranberg at Trinity Episcopal Church, I learned that they will be delivering 600 pounds of food to the food bank! Our thanks go to everyone who participated in the drive!
“The members of Wethersfield United Methodist Church greatly value our community and we empathize with residents impacted by income and food insecurities. It has been a great honor for us to support the Wethersfield Food Pantry as members of the Dazzling Dozen since the program began in 2018. No matter how big or small, we know that all contributions matter.”
