Forrest McPadden Family would like to wish all the mother's out there a very Happy Mother's Day this weekend.

04/01/2022

We would like to do a shout out to Beman Middle school in Middletown, CT for doing a Ukraine refuge drive. We stopped by this morning to drop off as much as we could to help. Thank you to Morgan Alicea from our office who has such a big heart for donating and helping others and to Matthew Forrest and Leslie Gold McPadden for always helping when we ask. Massachusetts Superior Court Says Woman's Medical Malpractice Claims Can Proceed 02/17/2021

This is a medical malpractice claim right out of a Stephen King novel: a women placed in hospice care and heavily drugged for 5 years is finally pulled out by family members, weaned off the opiates, and is as good as new, if not better.

Why did it happen? Apparently because the doctors involved received substantial bonuses for the number of people they placed in hospice care and for the length of their stays.

Massachusetts Superior Court Says Woman's Medical Malpractice Claims Can Proceed A Massachusetts superior court has ruled that a woman can bring claims for medical malpractice and unfair consumer practices against a hospice company for

4 skiers dead after avalanche in Utah's Salt Lake Valley 02/09/2021

We see winter sports injuries that were preventable. We can and do make sense of them.

But there's no sense to this tragedy, no sense at all.

4 skiers dead after avalanche in Utah's Salt Lake Valley Four skiers are dead after an avalanche Saturday in Utah's Salt Lake Valley, authorities said. The avalanche occurred in a backcountry region of Millcreek Canyon. Eight skiers were in the area of Wilson Basin, which is not affiliated with any ski resorts, when they triggered the avalanche, Sgt. Melo...

Opinion | Virginia should cancel its medical malpractice damages limit 02/06/2021

This is a tremendous article if for nothing else than showing the importance of 'real' medical malpractice awards and what they mean to victims - while demolishing some of the myths around them.

Imagine a grotesque mistake, catastrophic injury, never ending treatments, and medical expenses of over $4 million (and climbing) winning a jury award of $35 million, then having the state cap it at $2.2 million.

Read the story, it gets worse.

Opinion | Virginia should cancel its medical malpractice damages limit A pending bill has bipartisan support because this is not a political issue; it's a human issue, and it is the right thing to do.

Doctors Say Kids Are Suffering Dog Bites More During Pandemic 02/05/2021

We all love dogs. That's one reason why we should be concerned with the explosion in the number of dog bites across the country since pandemic restrictions went into place last April.

The last numbers we've seen - sure to be updated soon - was that there was an incredible three fold increase in dog bites since the pandemic started.

That's an unreal number but not all that surprising when you start to look at what's contributing to it: dogs feel the stress of lockdowns; people are adopting dogs at a record pace; more people are out with their dogs than ever; more people are walking their dogs in parks and on trails and are not obeying the leash laws.

We've heard from colleagues and friends over the last few weeks about many close calls with unleashed dogs while walking or running.

This article has some solid advice about preventing dog bites. We encourage all dog owners to check it out . . . please - we love dogs too, but we represent far too many victims with serious dog bite injuries.

It's a lot better for everyone that dog owner's take every possible precaution.

Doctors Say Kids Are Suffering Dog Bites More During Pandemic Doctors at Children’s Hospital Colorado have seen an incredible "surge" of dog bites in children during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

From Leslie, 2 years ago today . . . seems a lifetime ago:

Here’s my official Punxsutawney Phil Groundhog Day pass. I was there when Phil didn’t see his shadow and assured all of his freezing fans that it would soon be over. Winter that is.

While I was losing the feeling in my feet waiting for Phil’s appearance it occurred to me that since 1993 Groundhog Day has had an entirely different meaning . . . That, of course, is when the iconic Bill Murray movie came out.

Ever since, Groundhog Day has come to represent . . . Well, what, really? Dealing with the same thing happening over and over everyday? Without losing your mind ( though Bill sure did for awhile)?

One thing that occurred to me was that clients in the middle of law suits probably look at what’s happening as their personal Groundhog Day. With every law suit there are long stretches when it may seem like it’s the same old, same old every day, nothing changes.

Because real life law suits aren’t anything like the ones in the movies or on TV.

I’m here to tell you - and I constantly assure clients throughout the process - that, well, in every law suit you eventually wake up one morning and Sonny & Cher aren’t on the radio.
