Golf Anyone? Friday, September 4, 2026 at Oakmont Green. We are also seeking golf sponsors and this year’s sponsors of at least a hole on the course gets a free business card ad in our 2027 Caring Carroll Community Calendar. Calendars contain 24 gift card drawings, 2 each month and are sold beginning October 1, 2026 at locations throughout the county for $5 each. They make great gifts for the person who has everything. It also supports our senior care receivers..

Let’s Talk About Caring Carroll! Caring Carroll Inc. began as the Seniors Keep In Touch (SKIT) program and was part of the nonprofit The Partnership for a Healthier Carroll County back in 1999. SKIT was a weekday calling program where 2 part-time callers made safety check calls to between 75-100 seniors a day in Carroll County. The State of Maryland implemented an automatic program similar to this in the state as a pilot in 2018 then officially started in 2020. By 2007, the Board of Directors of SKIT saw the need to provide more than phone calls to seniors after years of hearing over the phone there were needs that were not being addressed in the growing elderly community. In 2007, SKIT was converted to Caring Carroll Inc. Yes! That means next year, Caring Carroll will be celebrating 20 years in existence. More details coming in the Fall.

Our Vice President of our Board of Directors Lynda Gainor will be at the Taneytown Farmers Market tomorrow, June 20, 2026 at Thunderhead Bowl & Grill. Make sure to pop by and visit with her. We are always seeking volunteers and other community members to support our care receivers who are over 60 and no longer drive and need assistance with transportation and food resources.

Our office is closed today in honor of Juneteenth! And will reopen on Monday, June 22, 2026.

So what is the Caring Carroll Community Calendar? The 2026 Calendar was our first effort to create a calendar that thanked all of our funders, sponsors and community supporters by putting that acknowledgment all in one place. As part of it, businesses bought ads or made donations of gift cards to be in the calendar. Then every 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month, we draw a winner for one of the gift cards. These calendars were then given to the top 100 destinations(there are 630 in our Assisted Ride System) that we drive our care receivers to so they are aware of what we do and how some of their patients/clients need rides to them. It also features Gail’s Gallery artwork and a brief explanation of how our services work.

Once again, our amazing friend Karen Combs has made these cute gifts for our care receivers. They appreciate being remembered especially since the food program focuses on care receivers with limited resources and little family support. These are so cute and the care receivers loved them. Thanks again Karen, we appreciate you thinking of our folks.

Our 2026 Caring Carroll Community Calendar winner today was Trish Quinn for a $25 gift card to Bowman’s Feed & Pet. Thank you both for supporting us. Remember, calendars are still available for $5 in the office. There are still 12 drawings to happens for gift cards worth at least $25 from local businesses in Carroll County. The calendars also feature Gail’s Gallery artwork.

What’s coming up for us? Our Golf Classic is Friday, September 4, 2026 at Oakmont Green! Join a bunch of fun folks that are here to support those over 60 years of age and older to get to various destinations in the county. Our Kahlert Foundation grant has up focusing on rides to medical appointments while our Maryland Department of Transportation, Senior Rides Program allows us to drive our care receivers to other resources in the community including grocery stores and senior services.
