Our beliefs, values, and vision are foundational to who we are at Crossroads Community Church. We are a non-denominational Christian church that began with a simple plan; love God and love other people. Our mission is to lead people to life-changing faith in Jesus Christ.
Most of us spend our lives carrying battles we were never meant to carry.
David's confidence wasn't in his strength, his skill, or his experience.
His confidence was in God.
What if the battle you're facing isn't yours to fight alone?

Some seasons of life are simply too heavy to carry alone.
One of the gifts God gives us is people—friends who encourage us, challenge us, pray for us, and walk alongside us when life gets difficult.
This week, Pastor Kevin reminded us that David's story wasn't meant to be lived in isolation. God used Jonathan's friendship to strengthen and support him during some of his most challenging moments.
"God often uses the right people to help carry us through the hardest seasons of life."
Who has been that person for you?

David had the opportunity to take matters into his own hands.
Most people would have.
Instead, he chose restraint, trust, and mercy.
Sometimes the strongest thing we can do isn't getting even—it's trusting God with what feels unfair.

David’s mercy pointed forward to the ultimate unfairness: Christ crucified. Jesus absorbed the full cost of every injustice, refusing to retaliate against His persecutors. The cross transforms mercy from a burden we carry to a gift we receive. Here, we confront both the weight of our own need for grace and the limitless reservoir of mercy available to pour out. “And Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’” (Luke 23:34, ESV)
Reflection: When you struggle to show mercy, how does fixing your eyes on the cross recalibrate your heart? What might it look like to let His forgiveness flow through you today?

Strong men aren't defined by power, success, or status.
God's Word calls men to something greater:
To stand firm in their faith.
To be courageous when life is difficult.
To remain strong when others depend on them.
And above all, to lead with love.
As we approach Father's Day, we're grateful for the fathers, grandfathers, mentors, coaches, and spiritual leaders who model these qualities every day.
"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love." — 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Tag a man who exemplifies these qualities and let him know you're thankful for his influence.

Abishai’s well-meaning advice to kill Saul tested David’s resolve more than Saul’s hatred did. Sometimes the loudest opposition to mercy comes from those closest to us, framing retaliation as loyalty. David’s rebuke—“Don’t destroy him”—challenges us to discern when human counsel conflicts with God’s character. True allies help us steward mercy, not sabotage it. “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” (Proverbs 13:20, ESV)
Reflection: Are there relationships in your life that subtly pressure you to compromise mercy? How can you gently lead others toward trust in God’s justice instead?

It's easier to offer grace when we remember how much grace we've received.
Every one of us has needed forgiveness.
Every one of us has needed a second chance.
Every one of us has experienced mercy we didn't earn.
Remembering that changes how we see others.

Saul’s repeated betrayal made him a prime candidate for judgment, not mercy. Yet David’s choice to spare him twice reveals a startling truth: mercy flourishes where entitlement dies. It isn’t earned by the offender’s repentance but unleashed by the giver’s surrender to God’s heart. This mirrors Jesus’ forgiveness of His executioners—mercy born not from human merit but divine love. ( Here’s the link to the YouTube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVQy8bBauLA&t=1956s )
“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8, ESV)
Reflection: Who feels “undeserving” of your mercy right now? How might extending grace anyway reflect the gospel’s scandalous beauty in your relationships?
