Now that the day is winding down, Happy Father's Day to this awesome Dad 🩵🩵 We love you the most!!

To celebrate him, we came home from brunch, picked him up and whisked him off to Spring Meadow Farms where he had his FAVORITE Char'd Barbecue,LLC Brisket Tacos and then The Bus Stop to finish with something sweet 🍧

Thank you for such a wonderful brunch today. We set a RECORD with over 70 waffles made by my very own nephew, Carter - he is officially the waffle GOAT.

See you this week friends!

Update: We're going to close tonight at 8PM. No seatings after 7:45. All things considered, it's been a good day and our team is amazing. Almost every person working has been here since before the stroll started and we want to give them a rest before brunch tomorrow. Thank you all for your understanding. You're the best ❤️🩷🧡💛💚💙🩵💜

We try to be transparent whenever possible, and as owners who put a everything into our business, days like today set my anxiety raging. Please extend grace to our working staff today.

Happy Juneteenth! ✊🏾✊🏾 Today, we celebrate freedom, resilience, and the beautiful journey of African American@ culture. As a Black-owned Soul Food restaurant in our wonderful community, today holds an incredibly deep meaning for us. Soul food isn't just about incredible flavors. It is a living history. Every recipe we share—from our slow-simmered greens to our golden cornbread—was born from creativity, survival, and love passed down through generations. Juneteenth marks the day when freedom finally reached every corner of our community. Today, we open our doors not just to serve meals, but to share our heritage, foster connection, and build bridges right here in our neighborhood. Freedom thrives when we understand, respect, and celebrate each other. Whether you have celebrated Juneteenth your whole life or are learning about it for the very first time, our table is always open to you. Come break bread with us today, taste the history, and celebrate freedom together. We are open until 10pm ! Come grab a plate and feel the soul. Check back soon for all the specials for this weekend. ❤️💛💚

My memories today reminded me that one year ago, we announced that The Cafe at Tech Court would be closing indefinitely - which ultimately turned out to be permanent.

It was an unexpected closure, but it led us to opening for lunch here on Main Street. It was also the first time in our three years in business that we had "all our eggs in one basket."

We've had an unconventional journey in business. Nothing is ever linear, and our path has certainly been no exception. I've been feeling a bit nostalgic lately, and this memory had me scrolling back through old photos and realizing just how much our kids have grown during this time. When we first signed our lease in 2022, our youngest was only chin-high to the three-compartment sink in the kitchen (I'll find that picture for you all later).

I had a point to posting this today, but was interrupted mid-post (as usual), and I think I've Mark Twained myself. (If you get that reference, you and I should probably be friends.)

Perhaps all of this is to say that sometimes the things that feel like setbacks end up leading us exactly where we need to be. We may not have understood why things played out the way they did in the moment, but hindsight is absolutely 20/20. What a journey it's been.

We're still learning and evolving. Business is ever-changing, and we're doing everything we can to continue growing and improving.

Thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting us, and in turn, our little family. Thank you for recommending us to your friends - that is the highest compliment we can receive.

Just... thank you.

Thank you all so much for your support today at brunch!

I'd (Ashley) like to share a piece of our story - because today I'm filled with incredible pride over the accomplishments of my friend and her amazing company.

Many moons ago I was extremely active in local theatre. I think I've been in something like 50 shows over my life. I dreamt of one day pursuing that professionally, and in 2013, began to take steps to do just that. That same summer, going from audition to audition, Tony and I reconnected. As I was making plans to move, I decided to join the cast of "Annie" with my best friend's brand new theatre company - Charm City Players. Chrissy and Steve had finally launched their dream and being alongside them for their first production was an honor. I figured it was one last hurrah before leaving Maryland.

Nearing the end of Annie's run, I was cast in both Sweeney Todd (Beggar Woman) and Legally Blonde (Kate) locally, then Life Things© happened and I stayed. In the subsequent years after our son was born, I returned in various forms to CCP (usually with the kids in tow), and watched them put on some truly remarkable shows.

Steve tragically passed last year, and Chrissy took the helm on her own. Last night, I attended Frozen the Musical in Baltimore and was absolutely floored by the production. From the impeccable stage direction to pristine musical direction; from technical design to costume design - every single decision and detail was so clearly and artfully executed. And the cast? No notes. The company was incredible; the ensemble has extremely clean and powerful vocals that make for a truly visceral experience.

When the curtain closed, I found myself in well of emotion. To see where we started 13 years ago to last evening's transcendent opening night is truly profound. They close next weekend, and I wholeheartedly recommend seeing it before it closes.

To quote Adelina when she recounted it to Tony immediately after, "DAD, WE ARE LITERALLY LIVING OUR GREATEST BEST LIFE."

To Christina Napp and Company - Congratulations. It was one of the most talent-filled productions I've ever seen. Be incredibly proud of the magic you've created.

Happy Loving Day ❤

Today we celebrate the 1967 Supreme Court decision of Loving v. The State of Virginia. This landmark ruling is very much the root of how we're able to be here today, serving you. Every year, I pause and remember it's only been 59 years since this ruling made in*******al marriage legal across the U.S.

Perspective: Loving Day is younger than all of our parents (me AND Tony - we have 8 between the two of us 😅)

Tony's planned some great specials for the weekend: Nashville Hot Tacos (if you loved our sandwich, you're in for a treat!), Lemon Pepper Jerk Wings (a dry rub, your girl's FAVORITE!), and our signature scratch-made Strawberry Crunch Cake (once it's gone, it's gone!). He may have one more thing planned, but he's being ~*~mysterious~*~ (Please let's just hope he saves going rogue for a night when he's closing!)

Tonight (Friday, June 12), we've got the sweet soul of Jordan Greene in the courtyard from 6-9PM. It's going to be a beautiful night once the sun sets. You don't want to miss it!

Be sure to grab a Mildred, Richard, or a Loving Moonshine Cocktail in honor of the Lovings while you're in 🥂
