Happy World Piano Day! We thought it only appropriate to use this day as an opportunity to share an adaptive reuse project that highlights a building where pianos used to be made.

The Baldwin – Cincinnati, OH, in collaboration with CASTO Communities and Neyer Properties

Celebrating the history of the building and the Baldwin pianos that were made there, our photographers, prior to demolition captured the beauty and architecture of the building. For a number of the final art selections, we also had the opportunity to capture the intricate detailing and craftsmanship that appears in the inner-workings of a Baldwin piano, as well as, secured and used several historic and original drawings from the Smithsonian. The bespoke ADA room signage utilizes images of the historic building to help round out the graphic language in the space, each room with unique original photograph as the identifier.

CMHA Client Center – Columbus, OH, in collaboration with Columbus Metropolitan Housing Authority

Community. Commitment. Collaboration.

Celebrating CMHA's mission at the heart of the concept, the art in the public spaces was commissioned reproductions of Sophie Jordan’s beautiful and colorful works that exude celebration of community. In the private office spaces and employee areas, the art was curated from a photoshoot of the various buildings CMHA owns or commits to placing Columbus residents in. Custom privacy films and ADA signage that utilize the CMHA brand colors helped to round out the graphic language in the space. However, the real show stopping piece was the dimensional map wall, concepted to allow for growth and change, that locates CMHA’s portfolio of properties throughout Franklin County.

URBAN GROWN : A biophilic design

Highlighting the dynamic dichotomy that exists between nature and architecture, this urban biophilic art direction marries the unique details around the neighborhood of Scholar House III with the built environment and nature’s interesting patterns. Biophilic design helps improve health and well-being in the built environment by bringing beauty of the natural outside world into the built one. Biomorphic forms and patterns create interest, a sense of comfort, are captivating and contemplative, while having the ability to reduce stress. We’ve curated the artwork with these ideas in mind to provide a juxtaposition of geometric architectural details and the use of nature’s figure ground and bring a fresh and exciting look that is uniquely Scholar House III.
