Westerly Arts Crawl - First Fridays, Monthly!

06/05/2026

TONIGHT during the Westerly Arts Crawl!
SEA & STUDIO | At The United Theatre | 6-8PM

The UNITED and Mystic Aquarium present Sea & Studio, a one-of-a-kind gallery showcase that brings together six local artists with animal counterparts to reflect a belief shared by both institutions: creativity is not uniquely human.

Original works from artists Josh Behan, Katie Fogg, John Tedeschi, Regina Linke, Elizabeth Ellenwood, and Westerly High junior Lillyana Isbell will be displayed alongside paintings made by the aquarium’s resident belugas, California sea lions, harbor seals, cow nose rays, and African penguins.

The opening reception on June 5th runs from 6-8pm and is free and open to the public. The show remains on display through the end of August.

Free admission. All are welcome!

Downtown Artist Spotlight πŸ”† Alexis Ansay!

Alexis Ansay is a self-taught artist who discovered her talent during the quarantine. Initially focused on portraiture, Alexis captured the essence of people and animals through intricate pencil sketches. Over time, her artistic practice evolved, and she found inspiration in transforming recycled materials into new, meaningful art. Today, she creates a diverse range of works, from zines and wall hangings to mixed-media collages, all crafted from repurposed materials. Through her art and repurposed art workshops, Alexis encourages others to reimagine everyday waste as a medium for creativity, bringing new life into discarded objects and inspiring sustainable artistic practices.

At her new art space Studio 209 at 47 High St, both artists Alexis Ansay & Jessie LaValley find inspiration from items that are on their way to the landfill or have already been littered in our community. Giving new life to what is traditionally viewed as waste allows them to stay resourceful in their craft while inspiring others to do the same!
