A southbound Acela Express speeds through Westerly, Rhode Island during its approximately 90-minute run between Providence and New Haven. These original Acela trains will very soon be eclipsed by the newer Avelia Liberty sets. The fate of the old Acela trainsets currently remains unknown.

A Midsummer’s ☀️ Harlem Line Dream 💭 🚊

Two Bombardier M7A EMU sets — one headed south towards Manhattan (1) and the other north towards Putnam County (2) — make their station stops at Purdy’s 13 minutes apart on a mid-summer evening. Those familiar with the station may notice that the northbound train is wrong-railing, meaning it is running on the track typically reserved for southbound operations.

Snowfall, but in the wrong place.

My conference in Washington DC aligned with a fairly large snowstorm making a run across the Central US, giving me a good opportunity to snap a train photo or two in the snow. The Northeastern US coincidentally remained barren of snow during the week this photo was taken.

A southbound set of M8s departs West Haven bound for Grand Central Terminal. The headlights on the rear cab car are turned on, giving the illusion that the train is traveling towards the camera.
