This Cummins block came in for a camshaft tunnel repair and a girdle. It's always a good idea to check your engine parts to make sure they are not magnetic this block was really bad.

This customer chose to have me apply Cerakote to this block, head and bellhousing.

This new Cat 3406 head was just here to be checked out because it was dropped, however upon further inspection I found that the exhaust valve seat width was extremely narrow and the valve face depth was shallow. I recut the seats to get them within specification to be sure the customer wasn't going to have any issues. I have always preferred to rebuild what I have when possible because the quality of new and remanufactured parts is not always great.

I took some time to build a line boring setup to bore this Cummins block for cam bearings. I'm happy with the results, so this will be another service I offer.

I thought this head was interesting enough to post some pictures of. This started as an aftermarket head that someone put a bunch of work into. These heads were known for killing the swirl effect of the intake, so someone brazed in a little fin to induce swirl in the intake charge. The cracks you can see on the exhaust seats and injector hole are common for high performance stuff like this.

This Fummins is getting a fresh set of injectors, 60lb valve springs, an injection pump refresh and a Keating tappet cover. Check out the difference in the radius of the corner of the tappet covers. The cover that was on the engine didn't seal up completely in the back corner.
