The Downeast Region Porsche Club of America is hosting its annual Porsches in the Park fundraiser on Saturday, July 25th at Bug Light Park in South Portland, Maine and we are honored to once again be the beneficiary of such a fun event!

Since 2017, Porsches have gathered along the rocky coast of Maine in an all-Porsche car show to benefit the Dempsey Center. This event draws Porsches from all over the northeast with models ranging from the classic 1960’s model 356, to the latest Porsche 911’s, Boxsters, and Caymans, “transaxle” cars (924, 944, 968, and 928) from the 70s to the 90s, Panameras, SUV’s, and the electric Porsches. Air-cooled, water-cooled, rear-engine, front-engine, mid-engine, and no-engine/electric motors, they’ll all be there!. This event is car enthusiast heaven.

All proceeds raised go to the Dempsey Center. Food is always available from various food trucks, and there are lots of opportunities to buy Porsche memorabilia and talk cars with the people who own them.

Learn more by visiting Porsches in the Park page or visiting www.derpca.com

Who's ready for another Double the Donation Day?!

Beginning at 12:00pm ET TODAY, June 8th, all registrations and online donations to the 2026 Dempsey Challenge have the opportunity to be doubled thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor!

Donations and fees will be matched up to $500 per Challenger, and up $25,000 in total today only!

In honor of National Cancer Survivors Day, your gifts will go twice as far in ensuring cancer survivors and their loved ones have access to comprehensive supportive cancer care as they navigate life post-treatment. Like with all gifts to Dempsey Challenge, these donations will go directly to supporting services like counseling, nutrition, massage, and more at the Dempsey Center—all offered at no cost to those who access them.

Let's make life better for people impacted by cancer, together. Login, get your donation pages, and start sending to your networks!

Register or login today at www.DempseyChallenge.org

*The Fine Print: Only online donations and registration fees made after 12:00pm ET on Monday, June 8th will qualify for doubling. Each participant has the opportunity to have gifts matched up to a total of $500 each. For example, if you receive a $750 donation, $500 of that donation will be matched. If you receive a donation of $200, $200 of that donation will be matched, provided we haven't reached the $25,000 collective max. Please note that matched gifts will not appear automatically in your account. The Dempsey Challenge Team reviews and enters gifts manually and it can take some time. Any qualified matched gifts will appear in your fundraising dashboard by Monday, June 15th. If a matching gift does not appear, your gift likely didn't qualify for doubling or was received after $25,000 in fees and gifts were made.

The Dempsey Center was founded in 2008 by actor and Maine native Patrick Dempsey after experiencing the cancer journey as one of his mother’s care partners. Patrick’s mother, Amanda Dempsey, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1997. After experiencing her journey, and inspired by Amanda’s passion for helping others, Patrick and his family created a space where those impacted by cancer could find relief, comfort, resources, and support—all at no cost.

During Dempsey Challenge each year, one survivor’s work and commitment to inspiring others diagnosed with cancer within Maine was recognized through an annual award. After Amanda’s passing in 2014, both the Dempsey family and the Dempsey Center team chose to keep her legacy of strength and service to others by naming this award after her, and thus, the Amanda Dempsey Award was created.

Nominations for the 2026 Amanda Dempsey Award are now open!

If you know a cancer survivor who is dedicated to helping others diagnosed with cancer in the state of Maine, then head to www.dempseycenter.org/about/amanda-dempsey-award to submit a nomination form. Nominations will be reviewed and evaluated by Dempsey Center staff and the Dempsey Family and the winner will be announced during Dempsey Challenge 2026 in September!

Nominations will remain open through the end of July.
