The National Weather Service Blizzard Warning remains in effect through 6 p.m. this evening. West Point remains Code Red until 11:59 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23. Only emergency and weather-recovery personnel should report to post during this time. All other community members are asked to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.

Additional snow accumulations (between 4-12 inches) with high winds (estimated around 45 mph) are expected today.

For West Point residents, ice melt is available (bring your own container) at 733 Garrard Rd. If you experience a housing emergency, please contact 845-446-3570.

During the government shutdown, we are taking a pause on social media activity. Please join us again once the government reopens.
The most recent government appropriations expired at 11:59p.m. EST on January 30, 2026. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status, without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be furloughed.

The West Point Museum is pleased to exhibit the iconic West Point oil painting titled "The Long Gray Line", by Ben Maile.

The artwork is well known to graduates of the United States Military Academy and was acquired by the donor directly from the artist who worked on sketches and mock-ups of the artwork in their dining room while the family was living at West Point.

The original oil painting is on exhibit in the West Point Gallery on the first floor of the West Point Museum!

The West Point Museum remains closed due to the winter storm. (26 January) Please check back for updates.

Winter weather update for West Point

❄️ 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 | 𝐀𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝟏:𝟑𝟎 𝐩.𝐦. 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐚𝐧. 𝟐𝟓:
West Point Community, our DPW and housing crews are working as quickly and safely as possible, but another ~10” of snow is expected today and tonight. Please be mindful of snow removal equipment and keep children away from snow drifts and slopes that lead to roadways.

Dress warmly, take breaks, and avoid overexertion when clearing snow. Roads, sidewalks, and bridges are slick, and visibility may be reduced by blowing snow. Travel only if necessary, drive slowly, and watch for crews actively clearing roadways. For housing emergencies, call 845-446-3570.

USAG West Point is actively monitoring weather conditions. To support our DPW's snow removal efforts, we ask all community members to please keep their vehicles off the roads. This will help us clear the streets for everyone safely and efficiently.

The West Point Museum will be closed on 25 JAN due to the winter storm.
