Here is a recently completed project for a Veneer Mill in northern Wisconsin. We converted a veneer heating oven (large green machine on the right) from an outdated Babcock control system to a Rockwell PLC for phase #1 of the project. For phase #2, we linked the speed control of the 10 feeding conveyors to the oven using a networked Automation Direct PLC system. To link them, we used an encoder on the oven belt to calculate the speed of the feeding coveyors so that they would all match and seamlessly send the veneer to the oven.

Here is our latest Level Packaging project. This system takes levels and staples them to a cardboard carrier used to display the level in a home improvement store. The system uses a Rockwell PLC, Festo air manifold and drives, a Camco indexer, and Keyence camera. The machine was designed and built by our customer Precision Pattern in West Allis/Waukesha Wisconsin.

Conveyor Belt Cutter

This system allows the operator to cut any thickness of belt material in a zig-zag pattern. This patten allows the belt to be looped end-to-end and solidly melted together. A laser line is provided to allow the operator to line up their length marks with accuracy. It can cut a belt from 1 inch to 48 inches wide and has adjustable depth control.

The system is controlled by a AB Micro 850 PLC, Panelview 800 HMI, and two Kinetix 5100 drives (.5kw and 2kw). The system is protected by a pld Category 3 safety relay. Finally, the system can be remotely accessed with a VPN switch.
