CELEBRATING YOU // Graduating from college is a huge milestone and we are proud to see our WVC grads personalize their graduation caps and wear meaningful stoles that celebrate their cultural heritage and student experience.

Whether you're the first person in your family graduating from college, a Running Start student, a student athlete, an honors student, a CAMP, MESA, or TRIO student, working full-time and going back to school, or a parent graduating from college while raising your family - you worked hard to get to this moment and we can't wait to celebrate you!

END OF YEAR CELEBRATION // WVC celebrated our faculty and staff at yesterday's end of year gathering. Thank you to our WVC community for the work you do every single day for students!

We celebrated with a picnic bbq, lawn games, a photobooth, ice cream truck, and dessert raffle. Faculty and staff raised $1800 for the Knights Emergency Care Fund with their homemade baked goods, including a cookie cake in the shape of WVC!

We also recognized newly tenured faculty, faculty and staff for their years of service, retiring faculty and staff, and the employees of the year.

Congratulations to this year's award recipients and thank you for the work you do to support student success in our community!

NURSING PINNING CEREMONY // Tomorrow is an important day in our WVC nursing students' journey. Surrounded by their support systems of WVC faculty and staff, family and friends, each nurse will receive a pin, symbolizing their transition into the nursing profession, and take the Nightingale Pledge.

PHYSICS FIELD TRIP // WVC Students in PHYS 223: Engineering Physics III visited Rocky Reach Dam this month to explore how physics and engineering principles are applied in real-world settings.

Field experiences like this help students connect classroom concepts to practical applications while gaining a deeper appreciation for the work of Chelan County PUD that powers and supports our community.

Professor Jim Lin regularly incorporates field trips into courses such as PHYS 100 and PHYS 223 to provide students with engaging, hands-on learning opportunities!

Thank you, Professor Lin, for finding exciting ways for our students to take their learning into the community.

Last week, Jessica Hendrickson Cannon and Jason Hendrickson from the Washington Falconer's Association (WFA) visited Professor Megan Friesen's Animal Biology class, and students had the opportunity to study animals they have been learning about all quarter up close! Students learned about falconry during the class and took turns holding trained birds of prey.

Professor Friesen shared, "we learned so much about the history of falconry, the relationship between birds and humans, and the way that falconry contributes to the conservation of wildlife. This served as a wonderful end of quarter celebration, and we are so grateful to have had Jessica and Jason visit our class!"

Thank you to Jessica and Jason for visiting WVC and sharing your knowledge and passion for falconry with our students! Our students learned so much and we'll be talking about this class visit for months to come 🪽
