I wanted to share an incredible resource if you should ever need it.

This is a fully volunteer group and ONLY answers plant/mushroom identification questions if it is an EMERGENCY (meaning if it has been INGESTED). They also have a strict set of posting rules so they can best help identify the item.

I would bookmark this if you have pets or kids.

We found out about this wonderful group yesterday when our 20lb puppy ate a toxic mushroom (Paxillus)from the backyard that we didn’t know was there.
We learned that the ASPCA poison hotline costs $95. But they do not identify mushrooms.
The vets needed to know exactly what kind of mushroom it was to know how to treat for it.
And this worldwide knowledgeable Facebook group was our only option at 7/8 am in the morning.

*Basil puppy spent the day at the Winthrop Vet Clinic (the whole staff here is also amazing!) where they treated her with supportive care and kept watch for the full day. Basil is now home and seems to be back to normal.

Happy to be exploring new trails despite my fully discombobulated packing for the ride.
✅Bike- it’s looking good for a ride
✅Helmet- safety minded
⭕️water (if what’s left in my pack from the last ride counts)
✅ shoes
⭕️socks, it’s 90°F who needs them anyway
✅ bibs- at least I’ll be comfortable
⭕️ mtb over shorts-I’ll just be a roadie on the trails
✅ cotton t-shirt - that was for post ride
⭕️jog bra 😑 overrated anyway
⭕️jersey- going back to old school cotton t-shirt
But I will note the dogs had food, water, shade. The baby shower gift was remembered as well as the Costco list so there’s that 😂🤪

About the trail, it was super fun and flowy thanks for making it happen. I can’t wait to come back and see the progress on the new trails.

Summer nights with friends and family celebrating love, life, and each other.

While walking through the redwoods last week, I had this on repeat playing in my head.

Who got to enjoy this beautiful display before it went away? I am guessing all those up and ready for the ski to the sun.

Gear keeps improving and with that so does how you use it. One of my kids kept telling me I needed to be more efficient in my skiing so this year I signed up for an eight week half classic half skate set of classes. What did I learn last week? The analogy of making chocolate chip cookies 😂
What does that have to do with skiing, other than they are a favorite post ski treat?
That, after an hour of going in circles and working on weight transfer techniques, I felt broken- which is comparable to when one makes cookies and you’ve just added the dry ingredients … it’s a lumpy mess.
So, I will keep stirring until my technique is smooth and then I’ll add the c.chips for more lumps and someday my skiing will be as good as those post ski treats!

I wonder what knowledge this Raven would share if asked, as it sits atop an old dry land farm hay derrick.

As a teenager, new license in hand, I would go for a drive and just explore the back roads, the forest service roads, everywhere…even maybe where my car should not have gone. Each area seemed to have its own character, the fertile land that runs with the river on Valley floor, a mountainous nook tucked away with perfect feng shui or a place where an old homestead once held space for life when days were more tactile. It’s that sense of place that I find is grounding.

I never thought I would have a dog who wears jackets 😂 but this dood is super cozy on this 3° Nordic ski with me in his jacket.
I figured my head gets cold without a hat and doodles have hair so…he probably gets cold as well.
If you are looking for a jacket this brand is great(no affiliation) just sharing quality, going on three years now and it is holding up, keeping snowballs to a minimum and warmth in- so says Theo.
