Explain to me why people who know nothing about medicine (state legislatures) should be able to determine what care someone receives. And explain to me why this only applies to pregnant women. EMTALA isn’t perfect, but does anyone want to live in a world where an emergency room can refuse you life saving care? Where they have too? Receiving a medical abortion to preserve your life is not the same as an elective procedure.
The US already has one of the highest rates of maternal death in the developed world. Why are we trying to make it worse?
Maybe those in favor of this should have to come watch a woman bleed to death from a intrauterine hemorrhage that a medical termination could stop.
The Supreme Court Will Decide if States Can Force Hospitals to Let Women Die Patients will die if Supreme Court justices allow states to block doctors from providing emergency abortion care.
Unscripted thought: Why do nurses find it so hard to stand up for themselves? They spend so much time and genuine effor advocating for others (even doctors at times), yet always hesitate to speak out for their own benefit.
Ladies and gents, standing up for ourselves IS advocating for others. A nurse with no breaks, no lunch and no staff is not a nurse who can competently care for others.

Big Oil, not Washington's climate efforts, is gouging your wallet By REP. ALEX RAMEL (July 12, 2023) — Over the last few weeks, the public has been increasingly besieged by a public relations campaign focusing our attention on gas prices in Washington. I’ve seen billboards, videos, print ads and an opinion piece in Cascadia Daily News. “Affordable Fuel Washi...

Unscripted thought of the day:
Healthcare workers are assaulted at an above average rate. Far too often this is considered part of the job. In what other job are the workers EXPECTED to encounter and accept physical harm? To say nothing of the mental, verbal and emotional abuse. why do we let it continue?

Violence against healthcare workers is getting worse, not better.
Last night, we responded to a stabbing at Palms West Hospital. Kendra Greene, the suspect, entered the NICU unit and removed her three-day-old infant from the ventilator. When she attempted to leave with the baby, hospital staff members intervened, so she took out a knife resulting in injuries to three staff members. Fortunately, Kendra dropped off the baby with a family member so the baby was safely transported back to the hospital by Palm Beach County Fire Rescue and is currently in stable condition. All three staff members received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and were discharged the same evening. Kendra Greene was arrested shortly after and is now at the PBC Jail on multiple charges.
