Maria Iniguez - Wenatchee School Board Director
Each and every student matters!
¡Todos y cada uno de los estudiantes son importantes! For over 15 years, it has been a privilege to call Wenatchee my home.
I was born in California, a first generation Mexican-American and an English Language Learner. The decision to raise our family in the Wenatchee Valley came easy to my husband and I as we knew that it would be a safe place for our son to grow and learn. We rest assured knowing that our son is part of a community that is vibrant, caring and diverse. My husband, Ricardo and I have a child that attends Wenatchee Public Schools.

This election is an example of how every vote counts. Thank you to Rural People's Voice for all the help and support they provided. The outcome of this election would have been different without their hard work and support. Mil gracias!
14 votes. A handful of households. At the end of a long election campaign, 14 votes ensured Wenatchee will keep a powerful voice for all students on the school board.
Maria Iñiguez is one of the hardest working candidates we’ve ever seen. She, along with RPV organizers and interns, knocked on hundreds and hundreds of doors in her district to talk with voters about what matters in our public schools. What they heard was a shared desire for:
✏️ Academic rigor
⚽️ Supportive services, like before & after school programs
⭐️ Opportunity for every single student in Wenatchee–no matter their background, family income bracket, or what language is spoken at home
Never forget: In rural elections, every vote counts.
Congratulations, Maria!
It’s official and finally over.
We did it! The election was certified today at 1:30 pm with Maria as the winner. With a 14 vote difference there will be a recount however, based on the Chelan Co. Auditor, Skip Moore he does not anticipate the numbers to change.
Extremely proud of this group of young women and their coaches.
The race is still too close to call with ballots left to count. The good news is that we maintain the lead, the not-so-good news is that we will have to wait TWO WEEKS until the next and final count. Thank you for all the messages of support and kind words. For now, the work shall continue.

I am so proud of our school district staff and Superintendent, Dr. Kalahar. I am honored to have served as the Board President during his hiring.
One day left to turn in ballots.
Opinion | Dr. Kory Kalahar: Setting the record straight about Wenatchee schools The Wenatchee School District has been the subject of a recent mailer disguised as a newspaper that contained misleading information about our schools. As the superintendent, I want to clarify

“Doing the hard work” is what a supporter said. He was surprised that I was personally knocking on doors. Yup, I work hard and give back because that is what my mother instilled in me.
Ballots are due on Tuesday by 8pm.
