Our History:
The Wenatchee Apollo Club was formed in 1910 when the Rev. Stuart Hyatt assembled 14 young men to organize a group to sing for their enjoyment and to enrich community life. That was just 18 years after the city itself was
chartered and The Wenatchee Apollo Club has performed continuously since that time except for a WWII hiatus. We believe we are the longest performing male chorus i

n the Pacific Northwest and one of very
few in the nation to have that longevity. The Apollo Club is an affiliate of the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center. Our Director: Tim Meyer

Tim Meyer is a long time resident of Wenatchee area. Two driving forces in his life are life on the farm and his love of singing. An orchard owner for twenty-six years, he currently has 70 acres of apples which keep him connected both with nature and a John Deere tractor seat. Beyond the farm, his musical journey began standing around the piano with parents and sisters singing gospel tunes. In school he joined a barbershop quartet, performed in “Camelot” and “Guys and Dolls” and even a college rock band, much to disapproval of voice instructors… ah, the good old days. Tim graduated from Wenatchee Valley College and continued studies at Central Washington University. He sang tenor for ten years with the “Living Waters Vocal Band,” a gospel quartet which performed throughout the Pacific Northwest. He has directed various church choirs and music productions throughout the years. This group of 60 men is a community choir which performs throughout the region. So, from the tractor to tuxedo, Tim’s life is full and happy. Tim is thankful for blessings of friends, family, children and a drop-dead gorgeous red-headed wife and his best friend, Alice. It is with great pleasure and excitement the Apollo Club welcomes Wilson Alvarez as accompanist for our group. A prestigious Ecuadorian musician, Wilson’s life and passion are all about music. An award winning pianist, he has performed internationally in Ecuador, Italy, Portugal, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Argentina and the U.S., both solo and with symphony orchestra. He has served as the principal conductor of the Loja Symphony Orchestra and the Cuenca Symphony Orchestra, both of Ecuador. A teacher, clinician, pianist and conductor, Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in musical education sciences, along with extensive private study from internationally acclaimed conservatories. Wilson and his family are new to the Wenatchee area, where he currently serves as minister of music at the St. Club President: Bill Johnson

Apollo Club president, Bill Johnson, looks forward each and every week to singing with all the members of the Apollo Club and resides in the Baritone section. He thoroughly enjoys spending time singing with others and pulling together as a group and offering a quality entertainment experience for those who attend our concerts. He says that his experience with Apollo Club and all of its members has simply been the “best.” He looks forward to helping guide the club in new directions whenever possible so that the experience remains fresh for members and audience. Bill and wife Sheryl have been married 32 years and treasure their time with family and friends and the rich quality of life that the Wenatchee area has to offer. Bill has been involved with the agriculture industry for several years and enjoys the challenges that each year brings. He graduated from Central Washington University with a degree in economics and has spent 30 years serving customers while enjoying many long-term relationships as he has traveled nationally and internationally. He has enjoyed developing new systems and products that help agricultural producers increase production and quality levels through the years. Become a Member! BE A PART OF SOMETHING FUN AND MEANINGFUL - JOIN US!!!

The Apollo Club men’s choir began in 1910 as a group that loves to sing and share music in the Wenatchee Valley and beyond. We are one of the longest-tenured male choirs in the country. Our typical season runs from September through May. Each year, we also provide scholarships to local music students so they can pursue their dreams through higher education.

We sing a wide range of songs including country, pop, show tunes, gospel, and contemporary. Since our start 114 years ago, Apollo Club performances have numbered in the thousands. Although most performances are local, some of our venues have included the Seattle World’s Fair, Spokane World’s Fair, Vancouver, B.C. Expo, and the Missoula Montana International Choral Festival.

We present a public Christmas concert with the Wenatchee Appleaires (women’s choir) and then we end our season in late May with our final or “Home” concert. We have also sung at many independent/assisted living facilities in the area.

We have both held music folders and sung by memory. Being able to sight-read music is a bonus, but certainly not required. We also have practice tracks by part that are very helpful to many. During our active season we practice each week from 7-9-- traditionally on
Tuesdays. We are a very easy-going group, just looking to share some singing fun and enrich the lives of folks in our community and beyond.

We will start the season with a potluck at Shelter Number 2 (southernmost shelter) in Walla Walla Point Park from 5:30-7:30 PM Tuesday afternoon, August 29. We will shoot to eat around 5:45-6:00. The club will provide burgers and dogs including buns. Sections and individuals will provide:
Tenor 1: salads; Tenor 2: Deserts; Baritone: Side dish; Bass: Condiments and drinks
Jim Bowen will provide utensils, plates and cups.

Wives/significant others welcome as are potential new singers.

Also, our first practice is set for Tuesday, Sept 12 at Eastmont Jr. High. Also watch for a local TV program set to Air on Sept 4!! We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
