The Three Creek Bassets is a private pack hunt supported by a subscription membership near St. What is Basseting? Followers are called the Field.
Louis that enjoys the sport of tracking rabbits with Basset Hounds. Basseting is the sport of following a pack of Basset Hounds in pursuit of hares or rabbits. The structure is nearly identical to a traditional foxhunt, although the pursuit is on foot. Three Creek friends and family - have a few things to share and also asking help.
1) Basset Hound Club of America nationals are at the end of this month at Purina Farms. The field trail events will be at the Eastern Missouri Beagle Club near Silex. Several Three Creek hounds will be competing. Plus Thursday Aug 31 our hounds will be doing a pack demonstration on the fly field at Purina Farms. Please come out and support if you can. Livery is optional since it will likely be around noon and a typical warm Missouri August day. Will need confirmation of who can whip-in. There is not a definite time as it will follow completion of the bitch conformation judging.
2) Our AKC Field Champion girl, Melba, has been in Vermont for the past several months at the Topsfield Bassets kennels for a romantic interlude with Dual Champion Topsfield-Lebrerra Goodbye Mr Chips (Chips). The fantastic news is that Ms Melba is expecting but the bad news is she is due Aug 24-26, smack in the midst of BHCA Nationals, when everyone will be in St Louis. So far we have arranged for a very competent facility in the St Louis area to attend the delivery, but we need to get Melba here the week prior so she can settle in for a safe and comfortable delivery. We have a way to transport her as far as So Michigan approximately the 15th of August, and are looking for a volunteer who would be able to assist transporting her MI to STL. Laura will be in Ireland at this time and Lei is in Alabama. Anyone who has an idea or willing to help, please let us know, or send a PM to Lei Ruckle.

If you have the time to browse their site, take note under their Breeding Program section where it is mention that their foundation is based on three foundation strains - one of which is Strathalbyn. And as you all know the Three Creek Bassets were originally the Strathalbyn Bassets, so this joint breeding venture comes a full nearly 40-year full circle. Stayed tuned for updates and puppy pics!! Three Creek hounds were stellar this last week at the spring trials in Aldie VA!! And we had an awesome team there to support. Mark your calendars now for 26-29 October for the fall trials and cheer on our pack.

Well, another Spring Basset Hunt Trial has come to a close. Laura reported that they were so-so in the 5 Couple hunt yesterday. They entered Kazoo, Nala, Sherry and Ian in the 2-hour Stake hunt this morning and TCB Kazoo took 3rd Place. Our other hounds didn't place, but they weren't pulled early either.
Ala in all, it was a great trial, with our pack bringing home some silver and the blue ribbon in the 3 Couple Hunt!
Keep an eye on your email, as the directions for this coming Sunday's hunt at Dog Trot Farm will be going out.

CONGRATULATIONS to our Three Creek Bassets 3 Couple and their 1st Place win yesterday! Scenting has been tough and the temps were warm. They did kick a rabbit up for a good run and took the 1st Place Blue Ribbon!🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇🏆
