๐Ÿ’™ Fund the First โ€“ Honoring LT. Eric Cox ๐Ÿ’™

Today, we come together as one law enforcement family to honor the life and service of League City Police Department Lieutenant Eric Cox. Lt. Cox served his community with dedication, courage, and integrity, and his loss is deeply felt across agencies and cities.

Lt. Cox leaves behind his beloved wife, Officer Brenda Cox of the Webster Police Department, one of our very own and their two young children. No family should have to navigate a loss like this alone, especially while carrying the weight of such profound grief.

This is where Fund the First steps in. Donations will go directly toward supporting Officer Cox and her children, helping ease the financial burdens that come during an unimaginable time and allowing the family space to grieve, heal, and begin to move forward together.

Please consider donating, sharing, and keeping the Cox family in your thoughts and prayers. This is more than support. This is brotherhood, sisterhood, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder when it matters most.

๐Ÿ–ค๐Ÿ’™ Weโ€™ve got you, Brenda. Always. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ–ค

โœจ Spreading Joy, One Smile at a Time โœจ

This holiday season, the Webster Police Officers Association was honored to host Shop with a Cop, a program all about giving back, building connections, and creating unforgettable memories.

Seeing the excitement, laughter, and pure joy on these kidsโ€™ faces reminded us what this season is truly about โ€” kindness, community, and compassion. โค๏ธ From picking out special gifts to sharing laughs along the way, our officers were proud to walk side-by-side with these amazing kids and help make their holidays a little brighter.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible. Together, weโ€™re not just spreading holiday cheer โ€” weโ€™re strengthening the bond between our officers and the community we proudly serve. ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ‘ฎโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐ŸŽ

๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ˜ฃ

It is with great sadness that the League City Police Department announces the passing of Lieutenant Eric Cox, who died on the morning of December 1, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Eric was born on September 5, 1974, in Texas City, Texas, to Cheryl Lynette Ravey and Terry Wayne Cox.

Ericโ€™s dedication to public service began early. While still in high school, he served as a volunteer firefighter. As graduation approached, he chose to continue serving others by joining the United States Navy, becoming a Corpsman assigned to the Fleet Marine Force. His service earned him the respected and affectionate title of โ€œDevil Docโ€ among the Marines he supported. After completing his Navy service honorably, Eric continued his commitment to public safety as a Galveston County Sheriffโ€™s Deputy and later as a Galveston Police Officer. In 2006, he returned to his firefighting roots by joining the Houston Fire Department.

In January 2008, Eric joined the League City Police Department as a patrol officer. As he advanced in his career, he took it upon himself to revive the LCPD K9 Program, laying the foundation for the successful and respected program that exists today. His passion for the work, and for his K9 partner, Pako, was evident to all who knew him.

Eric was promoted to Sergeant in August 2015, where he supervised both a patrol district and the K9 Unit. In June 2018, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant, serving first as a Watch Commander, then as Lieutenant over the Criminal Investigations Division, and later as Lieutenant of the Office of Professional Standards.

Eric was a steady presence, a loyal friend, a devoted partner to his K9, and above all, a loving husband and father. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Marie Cox, and his three children: Tristan, Wyatt, and Nina. He is also survived by his mother, Cheryl Young, and her husband Duane; and his father, Terry Cox, and his wife Delia.

Funeral Services and Honors for Lt Eric Cox will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Grace Church Houston, 14505 Gulf Fwy, Houston, TX 77034. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the League City Police Officersโ€™ Association (555 W. Walker St., c/o LCPOA, League City, TX 77573).
