Heavy weight rods don’t seem to do very well at the auctions.

9’ 8 weight heading to Florida.

A couple of rods that I built for this years Matt Light CelebrityShootout auction.

Rod #1
A 9’ 8 weight Diamondback Aeroflex blank- thank you Diamondback Fly Rods for the donated blank! Struble reel seat and custom cork complete this build.

Rod #2
A 6’6” medium fast blank with a spalted maple reel seat and a stacked birch bark grip make this a perfect small stream rod.

This past week, I was fortunate enough to wrap a Ron Scott quad bamboo rod. If you don’t know what a quad rod is, it is a bamboo rod with only four sides. This 7’ two piece two tip 4 weight has 74 wraps on it. This rod is going to be entered in the Catskill Fly fishing museum gathering in New York the second week in September. I wish I could go to this gathering but unfortunately, I have other plans. Good luck to Ron Scott and Butch LaVallee.

9’ 8 weight CTS Affinity X blank in”Jewel “. Snake brand guides with Fuji stripping guides and a custom grip by Alan Corbin.

XI 9’ 5 weight in olive drab and black. I believe this is the type of rod that GI Joe would have used.

I do occasionally build something other than fly rods.
